The Pahrump Valley High School tennis program made a strong showing at the Class 3A Southern Region Tournament, held Thursday and Friday, October 16–17, at Bishop Gorman High School. Competing against some of the region’s toughest athletes, the Trojans demonstrated skill and composure on the court—highlighted by junior standout Chanel Anthony, who claimed the regional championship title and advanced to the State Tournament. The Pahrump Valley High School boys’ tennis team showed tremendous heart in the Class 3A Southern Regional Semifinals on Thursday, October 9, taking on Coral Sandy Ridge at Whitney Mesa in Henderson. Although the Trojans ultimately fell just short in a tiebreaker, the match demonstrated their competitive spirit and season-long growth. This morning a group of friends & I took our kiddos to the skate park. We try to go weekly, and only on weekday mornings to avoid disturbing the actual-skilled-skating teenagers. Our playtime lasts roughly an hour or two and we all leave happy and tired. Helmets were donned, scooters were unfolded, and bikes were brought out of trunks. We were prepared for a good time. The Bob Ruud Community Center once again transformed into a festive marketplace as Spooky Jingles celebrated its 13th annual event from October 10–12. Hosted by longtime organizer Randi Case, the beloved craft show brought together 38 vendors offering a mix of Halloween and holiday-themed creations, handmade gifts, and seasonal décor — continuing a tradition that began in 2012 as Pahrump’s very first organized craft show. The Nye County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) is gearing up for a friendly — yet competitive — faceoff that promises to be one of the most entertaining events of the fall. The first-ever Blocktober Fest will take place on Sunday, October 19, at 5:00 p.m. inside the Pahrump Valley High School gymnasium, where members of local law enforcement will swap badges for volleyballs in a spirited showdown to support local students.
