The Pahrump Valley High School boys wrestling team continued to build momentum early in the season as they competed at the 2025 Sierra Nevada Classic, finishing 21st out of 30 teams in a highly competitive field that included programs from Nevada, California, Idaho, Oregon, Arizona and Hawaii. In just their third tournament of the year, the Trojans faced deep, experienced brackets across nearly every weight class, using the challenging matchups as an early measuring stick while continuing to establish their rhythm and identity this season.

At 106 pounds, Timothy Stutzman contributed seven team points, opening his run with a quick fall in 28 seconds before battling through both championship and consolation rounds. Stutzman added another fall in the consolation bracket before being eliminated.

Ethan Rouse (113) added five points for Pahrump Valley, earning a decision in his opening match and a rapid 47-second fall in consolation action. Zachary Hulderson (120) also finished with five points, picking up two technical fall victories in the consolation rounds after an early setback.

Joseph Scheer (120) was one of the Trojans’ top scorers with eight team points. Scheer recorded back-to-back falls in championship play before facing strong opposition later in the bracket. At 126 pounds, Zelin Kamanu also tallied eight points, securing three falls across preliminary and consolation matches.

Joaquin Flores (132) impressed with an aggressive start, earning consecutive falls in championship rounds and finishing with eight team points. Jacob McLaughlin (138) added four points after opening with a fall, while Benjamin De Santiago (144) scored six points with two falls in early rounds.

Jayden Crisler (150) contributed seven points, highlighted by two falls, while Bryce Whitney (157) added two points with a hard-fought fall victory. Paul Walker (175) finished with seven points, earning two falls in the tournament, and Jacob Stepp (190) also posted seven points with multiple fall victories in both championship and consolation rounds.

At 215 pounds, Iyan Bosket led the Trojans with nine team points. Bosket recorded a decision win, two falls, and another fall deep in the consolation bracket, showcasing resilience against a stacked heavyweight field. Julio Ackerman (285) added eight points with two falls in championship action before being eliminated in later rounds.

Several wrestlers, including Dominic Chiancone (126), Cameron Scherer (150), Jayden McMahon (165), and Marlon Garcia (215), faced challenging draws and did not score team points but gained important mat time against elite competition.

Overall, the Sierra Nevada Classic served as a strong measuring stick for the Trojans as they tested themselves against some of the top programs in the region. Competing against larger schools and out-of-state opponents, the Trojans demonstrated continued growth as the season progresses.
