In their final invitational meet of the regular season, the Pahrump Valley High School Trojans track and field team delivered a commanding performance at the Small Schools Invitational in Boulder City on Friday, May 2. Both the girls and boys teams clinched first place overall, capping off the regular season with an inspiring display of depth, determination, and personal bests.
The day began with a strong showing in the 4×800 meter relay, where the girls team of Jules Ondrisko, Addi Nelsen, Alexis Clouser and Valery Romero took first place with a time of 10:48.69. The boys followed suit with a win of their own, as Antonio Veloz, Ben De Santiago, Joaquin Flores and Aydon Veloz clocked in at 8:42.11.






In the hurdles, Sasha Strain continued her streak of strong performances, finishing second in the girls 100m hurdles with a personal best of 17.72. Diona Nixon claimed third, followed by Ella Odegard and Kyndra Cardwell. On the boys side, Randy Murray earned a fourth-place finish in the 110m hurdles with a time of 18.77.


The girls 100m dash saw Natalia Vallin finish seventh in 13.81, with Cindal Monahan and Ella Odegard also competing. In the boys race, Randy Murray posted a personal best of 11.61 for eighth place, followed closely by Keegan Freeman, Tramaine Burras and James Dela Rosa, all setting PRs of their own.



The 4x200m relays brought more top finishes, with the girls team of Nixon, Weaver, Vallin and Strain placing second in 1:52.97. The boys team of Alvarez, Dela Rosa, Wesley Cruff and Freeman also took second with a time of 1:36.18.
In the 1600m run, Jules Ondrisko captured first place with a time of 5:55.12, and Sophie Romero, Alexis Clouser, and Kaylan Robinson all posted solid times. The boys were led by Joaquin Flores, who finished fourth in 5:10, with personal bests from Josh Gent and Logan Tilley, while Hunter Wydick rounded out the effort.





The 4x100m relay teams both found success, with the girls team of Nixon, Monahan, Vallin and Romero finishing fourth in 53.91. The boys team of Dela Rosa, Alvarez, Freeman and Murray earned third in 45.81.
In the 400m dash, the girls saw two medalists as Jules Ondrisko placed third and Payton Weaver finished fourth, both with personal bests just hundredths of a second apart. Valery Romero and Rosie Miller also ran competitive times. On the boys side, Ben De Santiago earned second place with a time of 50.84, Antonio Veloz came in fourth with a personal best of 51.82, and Tristan Schumacher also ran a PR of 53.84.



The 300m hurdles added more medals to the total, with Sasha Strain and Jules Ondrisko finishing second and third for the girls. Diona Nixon followed in fourth, while Ella Odegard rounded out the effort. For the boys, Jayden Crisler earned second with a season-best 43.69, and Ulisses Alvarez added a solid finish.


In the 800m dash, Valery Romero placed second for the girls with a PR of 2:38.74. Alexis Clouser, Rosie Miller and Addi Nelsen also contributed to the team score. Antonio Veloz led the boys with a third-place finish, and Eric Figueroa Renteria came in fourth with a personal best of 2:14.18.



The 200m dash brought more PRs, as Payton Weaver placed fourth for the girls in 27.54, and Cindal Monahan also set a personal best. Keegan Freeman and Tramaine Burras finished sixth and eighth in the boys race, both with personal records, and James Dela Rosa followed close behind.

In the grueling 3200m, the girls dominated with Alexis Clouser, Sophie Romero, and Kaylan Robinson sweeping second through fourth place, all setting or matching personal bests. Alejandra Abarca-Franco also ran a PR for fifth place. Joaquin Flores claimed first place in the boys 3200m with a personal best time of 11:04.34, with Logan Tilley also running a strong race.
The day closed on the track with a first-place finish in the girls 4x400m relay as Strain, Weaver, Monahan and Miller ran 4:34.28 to seal their victory. The boys had already sealed the tone for the meet in earlier relays, helping to solidify the team win.
In field events, the Trojans showed strength across the board. In boys shot put, Hunter Mellinger earned fourth place with a throw of 40ft 6.5in, with Sonny Skinner setting a personal best and Anthony Hunt competing well. On the girls side, Tiler Ledford led the throwers with a PR of 26ft 3.25in, joined by Jemima Chavez and Cailyn Marsh.

Discus results were equally impressive, with Brenden Thorn winning the boys event at 126ft 2in, followed by Sonny Skinner in second and strong throws from Mellinger and Hunt. For the girls, Ledford, Chavez and Marsh all posted solid performances, with PRs from the latter two.



In the high jump, Rosie Miller cleared 4ft 8in for the girls, while Lucas Gavenda and Joseph Scheer both cleared 5ft 2in for the boys. In pole vault, Amelia Graziano reached 5ft 6in for the girls, and Jayden Crisler cleared 8ft 6in for the boys.



Long jump saw strong showings from both teams, with Savannah Thompson jumping 13ft 4.5in for the girls and Jayden Crisler earning second for the boys with a PR of 19ft 7in. Tramaine Burras also placed fourth. In triple jump, Thompson earned third for the girls, while Crisler claimed first for the boys with another PR of 42ft 6in. Daniel Thompson, Joseph Scheer and Jace Eichner contributed solid distances as well.
With consistent performances, personal bests, and strong teamwork throughout the day, the Trojans wrapped up their regular season on a high note. Their first-place finishes on both the girls and boys side set an exciting tone as they head into postseason competition with momentum and confidence.
