Valley Electric Association, Inc. (VEA) is once again demonstrating its commitment to the future of the communities it serves through its 2025 Scholarship Program. With 21 scholarship opportunities available, VEA is helping students across its service area achieve their academic and career goals by offering financial support for higher education.
Application Deadline: April 27, 2025
This year, VEA is awarding scholarships in three categories, ensuring a variety of paths are supported—whether students are graduating high school seniors, pursuing technical or vocational training, or continuing their education after graduation.
VEA will award seven $500 scholarships via a raffle drawing, with one student selected from each of the cooperative’s seven districts. These funds can be used at academic institutions, trade schools, vocational programs, or technical colleges.
To be eligible, graduating seniors must complete one of the following:
- A brief essay explaining how their chosen career path ties to cooperative values,
- A short answer to an opinion question,
- Or submit documentation of at least 10 hours of community service.
In addition to the raffle-based awards, VEA is offering seven scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $2,000. These scholarships are also available to graduating seniors and can be applied toward the same variety of educational institutions.
To be considered, students must complete all three of the following:
- The career path essay,
- A short answer question,
- And at least 10 hours of documented community service.
These applications will be scored on a point system based on the quality of the responses provided.
For students who have already graduated high school and are furthering their education, VEA is offering seven $1,000 scholarships. As with the higher-tier high school scholarships, applicants must submit all three required components: the essay, short answer, and community service.
To streamline the application process, VEA encourages students to gather the following required and optional materials in advance:
- Required: High school transcripts (for graduating seniors), community service documentation, letter of acceptance (to be submitted if awarded), and a headshot or senior photo.
- Optional but beneficial: Letters of recommendation and a resume, both of which contribute to the scoring.
The application portal allows students to save their progress and return later, making the process more accessible and manageable.
Scholarships will only be awarded to qualified applicants, and each applicant is eligible for only one scholarship. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
Winners will be announced on or before Valley Electric’s annual meeting. For local students ready to take the next step in their educational journey, this is an opportunity not to be missed.
