The Pahrump Valley High School girls’ soccer team opened its season with three matches over two days in Elko Aug. 14-15, gaining valuable early-season experience and finishing the tournament on a high note with a decisive shutout victory.
The Lady Trojans faced Spring Creek in their opening match before taking on Elko and closing the tournament against White Pine. Pahrump dropped its first two contests but responded with its strongest performance of the weekend in the finale.
Spring Creek provided a challenging opening test, scoring three times in the first half before adding two more goals after the break. Pahrump was unable to find the net in the matchup, with Spring Creek taking the 5-0 win.
The Lady Trojans returned to the field against tournament host Elko for their second contest. Elko built an 8-0 advantage during the opening half, but Pahrump continued competing and turned in a much stronger second half.
The Trojans broke through offensively for their first goal of the tournament after halftime while limiting Elko to two additional goals in the second half. Elko ultimately took the contest 10-1.
Pahrump then put the first two games behind them and delivered a strong all-around performance against White Pine to close the trip.

The Lady Trojans’ offense erupted for six goals, while keeper Jazmyn Herrera and the Pahrump defense kept White Pine off the scoreboard to secure a 6-0 victory and the team’s first win of the season.
Sophomore Avery Farruggia led the offensive attack with four goals, accounting for eight points and recording the game-winning goal. Senior Paola Aguilar Alarcon and Mitzy Godinez each added a goal to round out Pahrump’s scoring.

The Trojans also distributed the ball effectively, recording five assists on their six goals. Biannet Lozano Chavez contributed two assists, while senior Michell Villalobos, senior Sydney Crotty and Carmen Gonzales each recorded one.
Pahrump generated plenty of offensive pressure throughout the match, finishing with 28 total shots. Farruggia recorded seven shots, Crotty had eight and Aguilar Alarcon added six as the Trojans consistently challenged the White Pine defense.
The effort extended to the defensive side of the field, where Pahrump recorded 40 steals as a team. Alexis Pryor led the way with eight, while Villalobos, Crotty, sophomore Kylee Lusk and Godinez each recorded four. Sophomore Melissa Nunez-Ramirez added three steals, while Farruggia, Gonzales, Cindal Monahan and Patience Moore each recorded two. Lozano Chavez, Makaylah Ofseur, Raylee Smith and Kimberly Villalobos Patiño each added one.

Herrera completed the shutout in goal, turning away all three White Pine shots on goal to preserve the clean sheet and earn the victory.
The tournament gave Pahrump an opportunity to face multiple opponents in a short span early in the season. After two difficult opening matches, the Lady Trojans’ response in their finale provided a positive conclusion to the trip, combining a six-goal offensive performance with a shutout on the defensive end to return home with their first victory of the 2026 season.
