The Pahrump Valley High School Theatre Department is bringing the movie theater experience to campus through a year-long fundraiser designed to support its productions and students.
Throughout the school year, the PVHS auditorium will be transformed into a small movie theater on Sundays, giving up to 200 community members each week an opportunity to enjoy older films on the big screen while supporting the theatre program.
Movies will begin at 3 p.m., with doors opening at 2:30 p.m. Concessions will be available for purchase, including the always-popular movie theater staple, popcorn.
The series continues Sunday, Sept. 6, with a showing of “Jurassic Park.” Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for veterans, seniors and students ages 8 and older. Children under 8 will not be admitted at this time. Guests who bring a canned food donation for the local food pantry will receive $1 off their ticket price.
Money raised throughout the year will help the Theatre Department meet a variety of needs, including a new lighting control board, new stage lights, sewing tables, shelving for backstage and dressing rooms, Thespian scholarships and other program expenses.
Additional donations beyond the ticket price are also welcomed and appreciated.
