The Pahrump Valley High School Trojans’ softball team put on an impressive show Tuesday night at home, cruising to a dominant 19-1 win over the Cheyenne Desert Shields. The game ended after just three innings due to the mercy rule, highlighting the strength and depth of the Trojans’ lineup.

The Desert Shields scored their only run in the top of the first inning. A double, followed by an error and a passed ball, allowed a runner to cross the plate. However, Cheyenne’s offense was quickly shut down for the remainder of the game, going three up, three down in both the second and third innings.
The Trojans were locked in from the start. With only 17 at-bats, they racked up 10 hits, drew 4 walks, and were hit by a pitch six times. Riley Saldaña launched a home run, Kayla Glenn connected for a double, and the team piled up a total of 17 RBIs. Nearly every batter contributed to the offensive outburst, with hits coming from Ryleigh Denton, Dakota Glenn, Madison Rodriguez, Riley Saldaña, Kayla Glenn, Autumn Colon, Danika Cox-Hosino, and Mariah Gray.

On the mound, Evalenne Armendariz led the way with a stellar pitching performance, striking out eight batters and keeping the Desert Shields’ hitters off balance throughout the short game.

With their bats hot and defense sharp, the Trojans delivered a complete performance that continues to build momentum for their season.
