As Kathryn Suzuki approaches the halfway point of her senior year at Pahrump Valley High School, she reflects on the moments and lessons that have shaped her journey so far. Kathryn’s high school years have been a time of personal growth, where she has learned to be open about who she is and more vocal in social circles. “Taking everyday lessons, whether they were minor or major, and making the most of myself has been key,” she shares. “I’ve learned to stay true to not only myself but others as well.”

Kathryn’s involvement in yearbook brought her back to a long-held love of photography and even helped her clarify her future aspirations. “Yearbook made me realize what I want to do with my life,” she explains. Balancing extracurriculars with work has also been a defining part of Kathryn’s high school experience. Holding down a job while managing schoolwork was no small feat, and she is proud of continuing to excel in the workforce despite facing challenges related to her disability. “The people who doubted me only made me stronger,” she says.

Looking ahead to graduation, Kathryn plans to attend community college to pursue a degree in medical sonography, aiming for a career in the ultrasound field. Her advice to underclassmen is wise and heartfelt: “No matter how hard life gets, there’s always another path you can make for yourself. Don’t let fear stop you from getting a job you want or doing things you’re afraid of because of the possibility it might be complicated.”

Kathryn’s resilience and determination make her an inspiring role model for her peers and a shining example of how to embrace life’s challenges head-on. Congratulations, Kathryn, and best of luck in all your future endeavors!
