Desert View Hospital has proudly named Pahrump resident Teresa Hern, MSN, RN, as its new Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), effective March 24, 2025. Hern, a seasoned healthcare professional with over three decades of experience, is now leading the hospital’s nursing team with a focus on patient-centered care, teamwork, and community connection.

Hern’s journey in healthcare began in 1992 when she became a certified nursing assistant in Florida. From those early days, she steadily built a career rooted in compassion, leadership, and dedication to quality care. Over the years, she served in several key roles within the Valley Health System in Las Vegas, including Assistant Chief Nursing Officer at Valley Hospital and, most recently, IMC/Telemetry Manager at Spring Valley Hospital.

Now, Hern is bringing that wealth of knowledge home.

“I am excited to join the team at Desert View Hospital and continue fostering an environment which supports employee development and teamwork to deliver compassionate patient care,” Hern said. “I am a firm believer that if our team is happy, our patients will be happy and well cared for.”

As Chief Nursing Officer, Hern is a vital member of Desert View’s executive leadership team. Her role involves integrating and coordinating nursing strategies that reflect the hospital’s mission, vision, and values—all while keeping the needs of patients front and center. Hern’s approach focuses on empowering staff, streamlining clinical operations, and ensuring the consistent delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care.

Desert View Hospital CEO Susan Davila expressed her enthusiasm about Hern’s appointment, emphasizing the importance of local leadership.

“Teresa brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Desert View, and I am looking forward to supporting her in her role to ensure we are providing the very best patient care possible,” Davila said. “I am especially pleased that Teresa is local to Pahrump. Living in the community is paramount to understanding local needs and contributing to the betterment of our community.”

Hern’s presence at the hospital is more than a professional milestone—it’s personal. As a Pahrump resident, she understands the unique challenges and strengths of the rural community and is committed to making a meaningful impact not just within hospital walls, but throughout the area.

Desert View Hospital has been serving the Pahrump community since 2006 as a critical access hospital, designed to ensure access to essential healthcare services in rural areas. The facility provides a broad spectrum of services including 24-hour emergency care, surgical services, physical therapy, radiology, wound care, a full laboratory, and cardiopulmonary care. The hospital’s mission centers on delivering sensitive and compassionate healthcare while fostering a supportive and professional environment for its staff.

With Hern now leading the nursing team, Desert View Hospital is poised to continue growing its reputation for quality care, community trust, and professional excellence.
