Under sunny skies on June 19, 2025, members of the community gathered at the Calvada Eye in Pahrump to honor one of the town’s most cherished and influential figures—B.J. Hetrick-Irwin—on her 100th birthday. The milestone celebration was filled with laughter, hugs, dancing, and heartfelt tributes, reflecting the deep appreciation the community holds for a woman whose century of life has been defined by generosity, elegance, and service.
The event drew longtime friends, former students, pageant queens, and community leaders, all eager to express their gratitude and admiration for the woman affectionately known simply as “B.J.”. Known for her boundless energy, fierce compassion, and unshakable commitment to empowering others, B.J. stood proudly amid the crowd, accepting birthday wishes with the same grace and enthusiasm that have defined her decades of public service.

In a special moment during the event, Assemblyman Gregory Hafen II presented an official proclamation recognizing B.J.’s lifetime of contributions. The proclamation highlighted her role as founder of two transformative organizations—Ms. Senior Golden Years USA and the Nevada Silver Tappers—both of which uplift and empower women in their golden years.

“B.J. Hetrick-Irwin has been a cherished and inspirational figure in the Pahrump community,” the proclamation read. “She is the founder and guiding force behind two transformative organizations…both of which empower women…to build confidence, express their talents, and give back to the community.”
The proclamation went on to recognize the platform B.J. created through Ms. Senior Golden Years USA, where women over 60 celebrate personal growth, poise, and inner beauty, and the joy she has brought to audiences through the Nevada Silver Tappers—a beloved local tap dancing troupe she established for women over 50.
Through performances, mentoring, and decades of volunteerism, B.J. has touched the lives of generations, always encouraging those around her to embrace life fully, no matter their age. In addition to the state recognition, B.J. was also presented with another honor: The Daughters of the American Revolution named her an honorary member, acknowledging her lifetime of service and patriotism.
As guests enjoyed refreshments, shared memories, and snapped photos with the centenarian, many reflected on the impact B.J. has made in their own lives. From organizing community shows to mentoring young dancers, her reach has extended far beyond the stage. In true B.J. fashion, she spent much of the celebration thanking others, sharing laughs, and radiating the same spirit that inspired a century of meaningful living.

The Calvada Eye, adorned with birthday decorations and displays honoring her achievements, served as a fitting backdrop for the day’s celebration. For B.J., the joy wasn’t just in the milestone, but in the faces of the friends and family who turned out to celebrate it.
As the proclamation concluded, “Her life’s work has inspired generations of women, friends, and neighbors, who now proudly honor B.J.’s legacy and celebrate this great centennial milestone with admiration and affection.”
B.J. Hetrick-Irwin’s 100th birthday wasn’t just a celebration of age—it was a tribute to a life of purpose, performance, and passion.
