Judy Bloom, the newly appointed Dean of Students at Rosemary Clarke Middle School (RCMS), brings a wealth of experience and a deep-rooted passion for education to her role. With her first full year just beginning, Mrs. Bloom is already making significant strides in fostering a positive and supportive environment for the students and staff at RCMS.

Mrs. Bloom’s journey to education and school administration is deeply rooted in her family’s legacy of teaching. “I come from a family of teachers and education runs through my blood!” she says. Initially swearing off the education field due to its challenges, she found her calling during college, switching from a health major to education. This pivotal decision led her to a fulfilling career where she could make a significant impact.

Her career began with a series of leadership roles, both in the classroom and beyond. “I LOVE helping adults build capacity and having a positive impact on more kids than the limited number of students in my classroom each year,” Mrs. Bloom explains. Her dedication to leadership saw her pursuing a Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership and later, an Education Specialist degree in K-12 Building Administration. This commitment to professional growth underscores her belief in the power of education to transform lives.

At RCMS, Mrs. Bloom’s primary goals are to implement data-driven practices, align with district goals for high-quality standards-based instruction, and create a safe learning environment. The school’s mission statement emphasizes the importance of attendance, attitude, and academics. “We are committed to cultivating an environment where we actively participate in our educational experience and are held accountable for academic success,” she asserts.

A typical day for Mrs. Bloom involves building positive relationships with students, families, staff, and the community. Her role is largely focused on behavior, supporting needs, and fostering open communication. “One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is seeing the positive change and it being so contagious that it spreads like wildfire!” she says. Witnessing students overcome challenges and emerge as leaders is a highlight of her work.

Communication is key to Mrs. Bloom’s approach in engaging with students, parents, and the broader community. She believes in the power of collective effort, stating, “It takes a village to raise a child. The school system cannot accomplish this without support.” By listening, sharing, and maintaining an open perspective, she aims to involve everyone in the educational process.

Outside of her professional life, Mrs. Bloom enjoys playing games on her Xbox, watching movies, and reading. Her personal interests and hobbies help her balance work and home life, ensuring she spends quality time with her family and takes breaks from work. Her passion for animals is evident in her love for her two miniature pinscher dogs.

Mrs. Bloom’s background is as diverse as it is impressive. Originally from Rigby, Idaho, she moved to escape the harsh winters and find new opportunities. She played a significant role in her previous school’s achievements, helping it become STEM designated and reach HRS Level 3. With a large family—being the youngest of 12 siblings and having six of her seven sisters in education—Mrs. Bloom’s dedication to teaching is both personal and profound.

“I am excited about education and thrilled to join the team at RCMS!” Mrs. Bloom exclaims. Her vision for RCMS is clear and focused on excellence in teaching, leadership, and creating a culture of high expectations. With her at the helm, the students of RCMS are in capable and caring hands, poised for a year of growth and achievement.
