Axe Exterminators: A Family Legacy of Pest Control and Personalized Service in Pahrump

What began as a family trade passed down through generations has become a well-established, trusted name in pest control across the Pahrump area. Axe Exterminators, co-owned by Amy and Eddie Fobian, is celebrating six years of service this August, and the heart of their business lies in more than just ridding homes of pests—it’s about relationships, legacy, and making their customers feel like family.

For Eddie, pest control is second nature. “He came out of the womb doing it,” Amy joked. Eddie’s parents first launched Axe Exterminators in California in the 1980s, creating a brand and logo that the couple still proudly uses today. “It’s the same logo his dad created back then,” Amy said. “So, yes, it’s very much a family business.” Eddie grew up in the industry, working for his parents before starting his own termite company in California. He then spent 17 years with Terminix in Las Vegas, gaining extensive experience before the couple moved to Pahrump and decided to build something of their own.

Amy may have married into the business, but she is now the voice, coordinator, and day-to-day heartbeat of the company. “I do everything but spray,” she said. “When people call, they get me. I’m the one texting them, answering questions, scheduling, handling billing—everything.” She brings not only a meticulous work ethic but also a warm, conversational energy that customers have come to appreciate. “I’m chatty,” she admitted with a laugh. “Eddie always asks how I’m on the phone for 45 minutes, but I just like talking to people.”

Axe Exterminators currently employs two additional technicians—Cody, who has been with them for nearly three years, and John, a recent hire who has already made a strong impression. “Everybody loves them,” Amy said. “We’ve had people call and ask if Cody is still there before they even book. That’s how connected our customers get with the team. And John has fit right in—he’s from California like us, and he just gets it.”

While they handle general pest control—ants, spiders, roaches, earwigs, and more—Axe Exterminators has gained a strong reputation in town for their rodent control expertise. “We have other pest control companies in town that refer us specifically for rodents,” Amy explained. The business also offers termite inspections and repair, treats bed bugs and German cockroaches, and handles both residential and commercial properties.

Seasonal pests in Pahrump can be unpredictable and intense. “Every year out here it’s a new bug dominating the scene,” Amy said. “Last year, it seemed like every month brought something different—and the crickets never let up.” Some areas are more prone to specific infestations due to geography or development. “Mountain Falls and Artesia are hot spots for rodents,” she noted. “And Burson Ranch, too.” She pointed out that moisture-rich areas, like those near golf courses and lakes, tend to attract more insects like earwigs and centipedes.

The team recommends a variety of service schedules based on location and severity of issues, from quarterly to monthly treatments. “Some people do monthly in the summer and switch to every other month in the winter,” Amy said. “The bugs don’t stop—they just change.”

Transparency is key at Axe Exterminators. Customers are informed of what to expect after treatment, particularly when it comes to that first spray. “We tell people, you’re going to see all kinds of bugs come out—we just Armageddon it,” Amy laughed. “If they’re still seeing live bugs after two weeks, we come back and take care of it.”

The company provides both indoor and outdoor services, and indoor spraying is included at no extra cost if requested. “We do a crack and crevice treatment on the inside,” Amy said. “Some people want the whole house done every time, and that’s totally fine.”

Pet safety is always a consideration. “We ask that humans and animals stay off treated areas until they’re dry,” Amy explained. “We’re careful with pet bowls, doormats, anything that could come in contact with the spray. If we can’t move it, we don’t spray it.”

Axe Exterminators is also the only company in town that includes exterior de-webbing as part of their general service, something Amy is proud to offer. “We go around the whole exterior and knock down spider webs. It’s that extra step that makes a difference.”

For outdoor-only treatments, customers don’t need to be home, provided pets are secured and gates are unlocked. “We even have clients who give us gate codes or keys. We go in, spray, lock up—it’s seamless.”

Pricing depends on the service type and frequency, and while Axe Exterminators doesn’t publicly list rates due to competitive reasons, Amy said they remain fair, especially for longtime clients. “Some people have been with us from the start and are grandfathered in at their original rate. We did just do our first price increase in five years. Inflation happens, but we try to keep things reasonable.”

Amy’s flexibility with pricing—particularly for rodent work and those on fixed incomes—underscores the compassion that guides their business. “Eddie trusts my judgment,” she said. “When someone needs help, I want to help.”

Communication is also tailored to customer preference. While Amy prefers phone calls for their personal touch, she acknowledges that many customers like to text. “I’ll always respond. If someone leaves a voicemail, if I’m out of the office I’ll send a text asking if they want me to call back later or continue texting. It’s all about making it work for them.”

Axe Exterminators is committed not only to customer service but also to community involvement. The couple sponsors youth activities, holds giveaways like “pick a number” contests for free sprays, and even partners with others like Hayley Redmond for Thanksgiving meal donations. “It’s our way of giving back,” Amy said.

Each year, the company hosts an anniversary celebration for staff and their families. “Last year we had it at the Hub and reserved the pool table area,” Amy said. “We handed out wristbands and opened a tab. Eddie’s dad even brings old party footage from the 1980s. You can see Eddie in his OP shorts, eight years old, helping out. It’s hilarious and heartwarming.”

Customer appreciation runs deep, especially during the holidays. Amy personally mails out more than 600 Christmas cards each year, complete with goodies like magnets and calendars. “I start in the summer,” she said. “It’s my thing. Nobody sends them anymore, but I do.”

After six years, Axe Exterminators has become more than a pest control company—it’s a fixture in the community, rooted in tradition, built on experience, and powered by genuine care for their customers. With Eddie’s decades of expertise, Amy’s personable customer service, and a team that treats clients like family, it’s no surprise that Axe has become one of the most recommended names in town. For anyone looking for pest control with a personal touch, Axe Exterminators offers something rare: legacy with heart.
