The Pahrump Valley Volleyball Club wrapped up its season on the court at Schofield, closing out the final tournament of the year with an 8:00 matchup against a strong Teal team. While the result didn’t fall in their favor, the match served as a fitting reflection of the team’s progress, resilience, and competitive spirit built throughout the season.

The opening set began with energy on Pahrump Valley’s side as Miani Freitas-Faamai delivered an early spike to put her team on the board, quickly followed by an ace that gave the squad early momentum. Throughout the set, Miani remained a key offensive contributor, consistently finding ways to challenge the defense with well-placed attacks.

Both teams exchanged points in a back-and-forth rhythm, with service runs and net play shaping the flow. Xe’ane Kamanu made a strong impact defensively, recording a block at the net, while Mahina Decambra added an ace from the service line to help keep the set competitive. Emri Wulfenstein and Daisy Skougard also stepped into key serving roles, helping maintain pressure during crucial stretches.

Despite the Teal team capitalizing on several service runs, Pahrump Valley continued to battle. Smart plays—including a well-placed tip to an open area of the floor—showed the team’s growing awareness and ability to adapt mid-rally. Even as the set slipped away, the effort remained steady from start to finish.

In the second set, Pahrump Valley regrouped and came out with renewed focus. Miani again led the charge early with a strong spike to the opposite side, while the team showed improved communication and ball control. Mahina continued to provide steady serving, and the team forced multiple errors from their opponent, including balls hit long and into the net.

One of the standout moments came from Marley Gomez, whose well-timed block at the net drew a loud reaction from the crowd and highlighted the team’s defensive development. Xe’ane contributed on both sides of the ball, adding a smart tip that resulted in a point, while Emri placed a perfectly executed short serve for an ace—demonstrating the variety and growth in the team’s skill set.

Several long rallies in the second set showcased the team’s determination and willingness to fight for every point. Ultimately, the Teal team—who, according to their coach, finished the tournament in second place—used consistent serving to secure the match in two sets.

While the season ends with this final tournament, the Pahrump Valley Volleyball Club leaves the court with plenty to be proud of. From powerful swings at the net to improved defensive plays and growing confidence from the service line, the team showed clear development over the course of the year.

More importantly, the season was defined by teamwork, effort, and a commitment to improving with each match—qualities that will continue to carry these athletes forward long after the season ends.
