The Pahrump Valley High School Trojans girls’ soccer teams hit the road on Thursday, August 21, to face the Boulder City Eagles, delivering strong performances across both JV and Varsity despite mixed results.
The JV squad shined once again, collecting another shutout victory with a 3-0 win. Their ability to play cohesively as a unit has been evident early this season. “As a whole we still have a lot to learn, but they have been working very well as a team,” said Head Coach Amy Carlson, noting the progress and promise the younger players are showing.
On the Varsity side, the Trojans had a tougher challenge. Early mistakes in the first half created opportunities that Boulder City capitalized on, which ultimately made the difference in the game. Even so, the Trojans displayed skill, resilience, and determination throughout the match. They had several well-placed shots that came close to finding the back of the net, keeping the Eagles on their heels for much of the game.

Defensively, standout play came from Diona Nixon, who anchored the back line with poise and energy. Coach Carlson praised her efforts, saying she “had an excellent game, leading the defense.”

Carlson emphasized that the team is still young and developing, but full of potential. “We are a very young (new) team overall and have some growing pains to work through, but we are on the right track. We have a lot of season ahead of us and the girls know what they need to do. They know if they put the work in, they will reap the reward,” she said.
With the JV squad building momentum and the Varsity team showing flashes of excellence, the Trojans are laying the foundation for a strong season ahead. Their hard work, team chemistry, and commitment to improvement promise exciting soccer as the schedule continues.
