Pahrump Valley High School’s culinary program is preparing to turn its classroom into an elegant dining destination as students host the upcoming Savoring Senior Year event on Wednesday, March 4. Led by senior Emalee York-Bolling and supported by a team of second-year and senior culinary students, the evening promises a creative, student-driven experience that blends fine dining with hands-on learning.
Designed entirely by the students, the event will transform the PVHS culinary classroom into a beautifully styled dining room, offering guests a chance to enjoy a thoughtfully prepared five-course meal inspired by French flavors. The experience highlights not only culinary technique but also event planning, presentation, and hospitality — skills students have been developing throughout the program.
The evening will begin with a 5:30 p.m. reception, followed by dinner service at 6 p.m. Guests will embark on a carefully curated culinary journey, starting with a zucchini and pepper gratin served on a Parmesan crisp. The menu continues with a savory-sweet combination of turkey, cranberry, and brie wrapped in flaky pastry, followed by a mixed greens and avocado salad dressed in a bright orange vinaigrette and topped with feta and fresh citrus zest.
The featured entrée will showcase a classic chicken cordon bleu finished with a Dijon sauce, served alongside mashed potatoes and lemon-zested asparagus. To conclude the evening, guests will be treated to a lemon croquembouche tower, offering a memorable and elegant dessert finale. Two specialty drink pairings will also accompany the meal.
Organizers say the event is designed to celebrate the creativity and growth of the program’s senior students while giving the community an opportunity to experience the talent being developed inside PVHS classrooms. For Emalee and her fellow students, Savoring Senior Year represents both a showcase of their culinary skills and a milestone moment as they prepare for graduation and future careers.
Tickets are $30 and must be purchased in advance, as no tickets will be sold at the door. Community members can purchase tickets online at https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/pvhs-culinary/savoring-senior-year.
With its blend of student leadership, creativity, and fine dining, the event offers a unique opportunity for the community to support local students while enjoying an evening of flavor and flair created entirely by PVHS’s rising culinary talent.
