Nevada’s role in supplying critical minerals to the nation will take center stage during the Commercial Real Estate Development Association Southern Nevada’s breakfast program on Thursday, Oct. 15, in Las Vegas.
The event will bring together representatives from economic development, research and industry to discuss what gets built next in Nevada’s critical minerals sector. Hosted by CREDA Southern Nevada, formerly known as NAIOP, the program will examine the industry’s development through a panel moderated by Tom Burns, executive director of the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development.
Panelists will include Fred Steinmann, assistant research professor and director of the University of Nevada Center for Economic Development and principal investigator of the UCED-Nevada Tech Hub; Fortunato Villamagna, Ph.D., president of Comstock Metals; and Chad Yeftich, vice president of corporate development and government affairs for Ioneer.
The discussion comes during Nevada’s statehood anniversary month, offering a connection between the state’s mining history and its current role in providing minerals for the nation. Nevada became a state 162 years ago this October, during the Civil War, when its silver industry held strategic importance.
The Southern Nevada Water Authority is sponsoring the breakfast, which will take place in the French Quarter Ballroom at The Orleans Hotel & Casino, 4500 W. Tropicana Road in Las Vegas.
Registration, networking and breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m., followed by the panel program from 8 to 9:15 a.m. A professionally produced livestream will also be available for those who wish to watch the presentation remotely.
Advance registration costs $40 for CREDA members and $60 for nonmembers. On the day of the event, admission will be $45 for members and $65 for nonmembers.
CREDA Southern Nevada serves nearly 800 members in the region, including developers, owners and professionals working in office, industrial, retail and mixed-use real estate. Its monthly programs provide opportunities to discuss market developments, exchange industry insights and connect with other professionals.
