    Senior Spotlight: Zaria Vega

    For Zaria Vega, high school has been less about flashy moments and more about the quiet strength built along the way. As she reflects on her journey, Zaria points not to a single event, but to the challenges that shaped her character and prepared her for what comes next.

    Looking back, Zaria says her most memorable experiences came from navigating difficult moments and learning how to push forward even when things felt overwhelming. Through those challenges, she gained resilience and discovered the importance of genuine friendships—connections that provided support, honesty, and encouragement during both high points and setbacks. High school taught her that growth often comes from perseverance, and that showing up every day matters, even when it’s hard.

    Rather than participating in traditional extracurricular activities, Zaria spent much of her high school years working—a commitment that had a lasting impact on her development. Balancing a job with school responsibilities taught her valuable life skills, including time management, accountability, and independence. Juggling work shifts alongside classes wasn’t always easy, but it instilled a strong work ethic and helped her learn how to prioritize, plan ahead, and take ownership of her responsibilities.

    One of Zaria’s proudest accomplishments during high school is purchasing her own car—an achievement that represents far more than transportation. For her, it symbolized the rewards of hard work, dedication, and financial responsibility. Earning something she worked for herself reinforced the value of independence and showed her that persistence can lead to meaningful milestones.

    As graduation approaches, Zaria is taking a thoughtful and intentional approach to her future. She plans to take a gap year, giving herself time to step back from academics, reflect, and gain clarity about her long-term goals. During this year, she plans to work, save money, and travel—experiences she hopes will broaden her perspective and help her discover what path feels right. After that time of reflection, Zaria plans to attend college with a clearer sense of direction and purpose.

    When asked what advice she would give to underclassmen, Zaria offers practical wisdom rooted in experience. She encourages students to stay organized, take notes, and complete assignments when they’re assigned rather than waiting until the last minute. She emphasizes taking every class seriously—even those that may not seem important at the time—and not being afraid to ask for help. Managing time wisely, learning from mistakes, and staying committed can make a lasting difference. Above all, Zaria reminds students to get involved in things they genuinely enjoy, choose friends carefully, and remember that the effort put in now will pay off later.

    With her steady determination, strong work ethic, and thoughtful outlook on the future, Zaria Vega leaves high school prepared for the next chapter—ready to explore, grow, and build a life guided by purpose and perseverance.
