The Pahrump Valley High School boys’ tennis team faced off against Boulder City in a tough match at home on Monday, September 23, falling 5-13 to the undefeated Eagles. While the Trojans didn’t secure a win, they put forth a tremendous effort.
“Our boys’ Trojan team lost their first match yesterday versus the still unbeaten Boulder City team 5-13,” said Coach DelaRosa. “It was a warm day and an intense match up which our team fell short, however, the good news is that our hard-working boys scored the most points against Boulder during my tenure as coach and existence of our tennis team for the school.”
In singles play, Milan Vasquez went 0-3, James Dela Rosa earned one victory with a 1-2 record, and Sonny Skinner also posted a 1-2 result. On the doubles side, the duo of Lucas Johnson and Jace Eichen stood out, finishing 2-1. Chris Jacks and Legend Reigns secured a win, ending 1-2, while Juan Rodriguez teamed up with Jack Toth, stepping in for Bryce Dykstra and Mariano Ayala, and went 0-3.
Though the day ended in defeat, Coach DelaRosa praised the team’s efforts and resilience against a strong Boulder City squad, seeing the match as a sign of growth and progress for the Trojans.
