Alli Murphy – Class of 2017

Alli Murphy, a name well recognized in Pahrump, has built a career in real estate while keeping strong ties to the town where she grew up. A 2017 graduate of Pahrump Valley High School, Alli’s journey after high school was anything but conventional.

During her time at PVHS, Alli was heavily involved in student council, a role that helped shape her leadership skills and prepare her for her future career in real estate. She loved the energy of planning events, creating advertisements, and working with others to bring ideas to life. Student council wasn’t just an extracurricular activity for her; it was a training ground for teamwork, organization, and marketing. Whether it was designing posters for school events, organizing pep rallies, or strategizing election campaigns, Alli thrived in a fast-paced, people-oriented environment—skills that later became essential in her career. She fondly recalls the camaraderie of being involved in school activities, cheering at sports events, and making lifelong friendships. The lessons she learned in high school, particularly in leadership and communication, played a significant role in her future career journey.

Initially accepted to the University of Nevada, Reno, with plans to study radiology, she instead made a spontaneous decision to move to Hollywood with friends.

The transition from a small town to the bustling streets of Los Angeles was exhilarating but overwhelming. Alli recalls those months vividly, describing the shock of going from Pahrump’s quiet, wide-open spaces to the never-ending traffic and crowds of Hollywood. She made ends meet by working as a Postmates delivery driver, but after seven months of city life and countless moments spent crying in gridlocked traffic, she and her friends realized it was time to return home. The experience, while stressful, was invaluable, giving her a newfound appreciation for her hometown and ultimately leading her to discover her true passion—real estate.

Upon returning to Pahrump, Alli wasted no time pursuing her career. She obtained her real estate license in 2018 and quickly immersed herself in the industry. She started with All-Star Real Estate before moving to Nevada Realty, where she found a network of supportive agents eager to help her grow. Among them, Tasha Douglas became a key mentor, teaching Alli the ins and outs of the business. Together with other seasoned professionals like Amanda Nelson and Tony Carlo, they later transitioned to Ridge Realty Group, under the leadership of broker Marci Metzger.

Though she is deeply committed to real estate, Alli has no aspirations to become a broker. The added responsibilities and liabilities of overseeing other agents don’t appeal to her at this stage in her career. Instead, she prefers focusing on her clients, helping them navigate the ever-changing market, and ensuring they find the perfect home.

Speaking of the market, Pahrump’s real estate landscape has seen a shift over the years. Initially dominated by retirees, the town is now attracting a younger demographic, including families and professionals looking for an affordable alternative to Las Vegas. Many buyers come from California, fleeing high costs of living, wildfires, and dense urban environments. Others are drawn by Pahrump’s proximity to Las Vegas and its emerging reputation as a prime real estate market. In fact, in 2024, Pahrump was named as the top retirement destination in the US by Zillow.

Alli’s roots in Pahrump run deep. Her father, Tommy Murphy, is part of the well-known Murphy family, one of fourteen siblings. He owns a billboard company and works as a home inspector, though Alli chooses not to use his services for ethical reasons. However, her father’s billboard business has provided one of the most talked-about features in town—her ever-changing, often humorous billboard advertisements.

The billboard has become a local attraction, featuring playful designs that catch the eye and spark conversation. What started as a simple real estate ad turned into a town-wide tradition when her father played an April Fool’s prank by adding a mustache to her image. The stunt was so convincing that Alli received a flood of concerned messages from people who thought her billboard had been vandalized. Since then, her father has continued the tradition, creating themed billboards for various holidays and even replacing Alli’s face with his own on Father’s Day, much to the town’s amusement. The Beetlejuice-themed billboard for Halloween was particularly memorable, even causing an elderly woman to call Alli in distress over the transformation.

Outside of real estate, Alli values her time with family and friends. She is married to Andree Hernandez, her high school sweetheart, and they recently welcomed a baby boy. Andree, like Alli, is an entrepreneur, running Silver State Merch, a local screen-printing business that provides custom apparel for various organizations, including firefighters, landscapers, exterminators, pool companies, contractors, local farmers, clothing brands, local schools and more. Alli encouraged him to follow his passion, and now he enjoys the freedom of working for himself.

When she isn’t working or being a mother, Alli enjoys spending time with her best friend, Abbie Rivera, who also recently became a mother. Their long-standing friendship remains strong, with daily visits and shared experiences as they navigate motherhood together. She also cherishes the tight-knit community she has within her extended family. With ten cousins all pregnant at the same time, Alli’s son will have no shortage of playmates, a reality that mirrors her own childhood, where she and her numerous cousins shared the experience of growing up together in Pahrump.

Despite her love for adventure, Alli has no desire to leave Pahrump. Her brief stint in Hollywood made her realize that big-city life wasn’t for her. Even Las Vegas feels too overwhelming. If she ever moved, it would only be to another small town, a place where she could maintain the quiet, comfortable lifestyle she loves. The beauty of Pahrump—the clear skies, breathtaking sunsets, and surrounding mountains—continues to captivate her. And while she enjoys traveling, she appreciates returning to a place where she feels at home.

Alli’s deep appreciation for her hometown is evident in the way she interacts with her clients. She understands their concerns, whether they’re first-time homebuyers unsure about affordability or retirees looking for a peaceful place to settle. She takes pride in helping young families find opportunities through loan programs they may not have known existed, making homeownership an attainable goal for many.

As she continues to grow her business, Alli also hopes to become more involved in the community. While she hasn’t joined any organizations yet, she has her eye on Soroptimist International, a group dedicated to empowering women. However, with a four-month-old baby, she acknowledges that now may not be the best time to take on additional commitments. For now, her focus remains on her family, her friends, and her ever-expanding real estate career.

From a high school student council member to a thriving real estate agent, Alli Murphy’s journey has been anything but ordinary. She’s embraced opportunities, navigated challenges, and built a life centered on community, family, and ambition. Whether it’s through her career, her family’s legendary billboard pranks, or her dedication to Pahrump, Alli continues to leave a lasting impact on her hometown—one home, and one laugh, at a time.
