The Pahrump Valley Mountain Biking Club continued their strong season with an impressive showing at the Moapa Valley Madness race on February 22, 2025. The second race of the season tested riders with a thrilling mix of climbs, descents, and technical sections.

The course kicked off with a gradual climb, challenging racers right from the start. From there, riders sped through a fast-flowing downhill section punctuated by short punchy climbs. A mile-long descent gave way to a longer climb up the road crossing, leading into the exciting downhill berm section, known as the Ribcage. After navigating another short climb and a flowy descent, racers entered the scenic slot canyon before emerging onto the final stretch along the dirt road to the finish line. (Course distance varies by division.)

Pahrump’s athletes gave it their all in every division, showcasing determination and skill against a competitive field. In the JV2 Boys category, Timmy Stutzman led the way for the team, securing a 17th-place finish with a time of 58:36.35. Shaun Street followed closely in 18th, clocking in at 1:02:46.69. Isaac Norton battled through the course to finish 20th in 1:05:12.10, while Jeremy O’Neal completed the lineup with a solid 22nd-place finish in 1:11:29.02.

In the JV3 Boys division, Mason Whitney powered through to take 17th place with a time of 44:19.38. Ryan Nasso finished just behind him in 18th place at 46:22.88, while Nicholas Stutzman completed the course in 47:14.86 for 19th place.

Sophia Hoffman had a strong ride in the JV3 Girls category, finishing 2nd with a time of 1:16:15.39. She competed against three other riders, with one unable to complete the race, demonstrating her ability to navigate the challenging course and secure a podium spot. 2nd place with a time of 1:16:15.39.

In the Middle School (MS1) Boys division, Xavier Schwinkendorf put in an impressive ride to claim 5th place with a time of 22:20.58. Edmond finished in 17th place with a time of 25:48.87, and Gavin Brown rounded out the group in 21st place with a time of 32:03.29.

The MS2 Boys also saw strong performances, with Lucas Silva finishing in 15th place at 44:52.69. Everette followed closely in 17th place at 49:23.51, while Everest Leavitt crossed the finish line in 18th place with a time of 49:45.54.

Adding to their success on the course, the Trojans also took home the Spirit Award. The team went all out decorating and dressing up in a safari theme, bringing energy and enthusiasm to the event.

The Moapa Valley Madness race provided a great test for the Pahrump Valley Mountain Biking Club, and the team rose to the challenge with determination and enthusiasm. With each race, these athletes continue to gain experience, build confidence, and improve their skills on the trail. The season is shaping up to be an exciting one, and Pahrump’s riders are proving they belong among the best.
