Pawsitively Pampered Grooming: A Personalized Touch for Pahrump’s Pups

Lindsey Boyajian, the owner of Pawsitively Pampered Grooming, has brought a refreshing, personalized approach to pet care in Pahrump since opening her business in April 2023. Nestled at 3540 South Murphy, her grooming service offers a serene, one-on-one experience for dogs, ensuring a calm environment where each pet receives individualized attention. For Lindsey, who trained under the expert guidance of a seasoned groomer at Kamp K9, this business is more than just a job—it’s a passion project born from her love for animals and a desire for independence.

After originally planning to become a teacher, Lindsey’s career path changed when the pandemic hit. While working at Kamp K9, a local pet care facility, she had the chance to explore dog grooming after a few staff members left. Though initially hesitant, she was trained by Tiffany, a professional groomer with over a decade of experience, and quickly found herself immersed in the craft. “I thought it would be scary—sharp objects and dogs’ faces—but Tiffany made the learning process easy,” Lindsey recalled. “I realized that grooming is an ever-changing field, and I’m always learning new techniques and ways to work with the dogs. It keeps me intrigued.”

Lindsey’s grooming expertise covers a wide range of services, from simple baths and nail trims to breed-specific haircuts. However, she’s best known for her deshedding skills, especially for breeds like Huskies, Shepherds, and other dogs with thick undercoats. “Blowing out that undercoat is my niche,” she explained, emphasizing the importance of proper grooming for these breeds.

Lindsey emphasizes the importance of avoiding certain grooming mistakes that can negatively impact a dog’s health. One of the biggest “don’ts” she stresses is bathing a dog before properly brushing out its coat, especially for longer-haired breeds. “If you don’t brush them out first, the water causes matting to tighten against the skin, making it much worse,” she explained. This can lead to painful matting and even skin infections. Lindsey also advises against allowing dogs to go too long between grooming sessions, particularly in the colder months. “People often think their dogs need their long coats in the winter, but regular grooming is crucial to prevent matting and keep the coat healthy,” she said. She recommends scheduling grooming sessions every 6 to 8 weeks, regardless of the season, to maintain both skin and coat health. Additionally, using the wrong tools at home can cause damage, so Lindsey encourages owners to consult with her on proper brushing techniques to maintain their pets’ coats between visits.

One aspect that sets Pawsitively Pampered Grooming apart from other salons is its peaceful, quiet atmosphere. Lindsey operates on an appointment-only basis, working one-on-one with each dog, which greatly reduces stress for the animals. “It’s nice because I only have one dog or one family’s dogs in at a time,” she said. “It’s quiet, and I just talk to them calmly, give them love, and make sure they feel safe. If a dog is too anxious or stressed, I won’t push them. I’d rather reschedule than force them through something they aren’t comfortable with.”

Lindsey’s approach to handling anxious dogs is rooted in patience and kindness. Rather than rushing through the process, she allows the dogs to acclimate at their own pace. “If a dog won’t let me trim their nails, for example, I’ll let them take a break and try again later,” she said. “And if they still aren’t ready, I just won’t do it that day. I want them to leave feeling happy and comfortable, not anxious or scared.”

Lindsey has also become a trusted resource for pet owners in maintaining their dogs’ overall health. Although she doesn’t perform teeth cleanings or diagnose health issues, she makes sure to keep an eye out for any potential concerns during grooming sessions, such as lumps, bumps, or signs of dental problems, and advises owners to consult a veterinarian if needed. “We’re often the ones who catch things like fox tails embedded in the fur, which can lead to infections,” she said. “It’s important to let owners know so they can get their pets treated promptly.”

Her love for animals extends beyond the technical aspects of grooming. For Lindsey, one of the most rewarding parts of her job is seeing the transformation in her clients’ behavior over time. “I had a timid Australian Shepherd who was so nervous when she first came in,” Lindsey shared. “By the end of the session, she was jumping on me, wagging her tail, and giving me kisses. It’s amazing to see them come out of their shell when they feel comfortable.”

To stay current with the latest grooming trends and techniques, Lindsey turns to social media platforms like Instagram, where she follows grooming courses and watches tutorials. She’s especially fond of the rising popularity of Asian fusion grooming, a style characterized by fluffy, rounded cuts that give dogs, particularly doodles, an adorable teddy bear appearance. “It’s really fun to try new techniques, and I love when I can immediately apply what I’ve learned on a client’s dog,” she said.

Despite her success, Lindsey has no immediate plans for expansion. She enjoys the small, intimate nature of her business and the bonds she forms with each dog. “Right now, I’m just focused on making sure all my clients are happy and that their pets are well cared for,” she said. “It’s a lot of responsibility, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

For dog owners looking for a tranquil, individualized grooming experience, Lindsey’s Pawsitively Pampered Grooming offers a perfect solution. With her combination of technical expertise, hands-on experience, and genuine affection for her furry clients, Lindsey has quickly become a trusted name in the local pet care scene.

To book an appointment, Lindsey recommends texting her at (775) 253-8946 for the quickest response. With flexible scheduling and an unwavering dedication to her craft, Lindsey ensures that every dog leaves her care feeling pampered, loved, and ready to wag their tails all the way home.
