The Pahrump Valley High School girls’ soccer team celebrated a decisive 7-0 win over the Cristo Rey Royals on Wednesday, September 3. Returning to the field where they once won a state championship, the Trojans took control early and never looked back, using a mix of offensive power and defensive stability to secure their first victory of the season.
The scoring began in the opening minutes when Natalia Vallin put the Trojans ahead with a clean strike. From there, the pressure never let up as Pahrump Valley earned multiple corner kicks and tested Cristo Rey’s defense. Sydney Crotty added a goal in the first half, and Juliana Lopez followed up with another from the right side. Vallin capped off the half with her second of the night, giving the Trojans a 3-0 lead at halftime.

The second half was all Pahrump Valley. Vallin found the net two more times to complete her hat trick and later added a fourth goal, leading the way with an outstanding performance. Crotty and Lopez’s earlier goals were joined by one from Raylee Smith, rounding out the team’s seven-goal total. Aubrey Williams had six strong shots on goal that just missed, while Natalie Soto provided steady play across multiple positions, giving the Trojans valuable flexibility. Goalkeeper Jazmyn Herrera anchored the defense, keeping a clean sheet for the match.

Head Coach Amy Carlson acknowledged the victory while also stressing the need for improvement. “A win is a win, and we’re proud of the result, but it wasn’t graceful,” Carlson said. “The girls worked harder than they needed to by playing sloppy at times. We need to get back to simple, connected passes and controlling the ball. They worked so hard all summer, and we know we have more talent than we’re showing. Hopefully this win helps them find their confidence and gets them back on track.”

The victory was not only a chance to celebrate a commanding scoreline but also to give nearly the entire roster playing time, an opportunity Carlson called an important step for the season ahead. She emphasized to the players that success will come down to more than skill. “It’s up to them,” she explained. “This is their season to win or lose, and it will depend on who has the most heart and is willing to put in the work.”
The 7-0 result put the Trojans back in the win column and served as a reminder of the potential this squad carries. With confidence growing, the team now looks ahead with renewed focus, eager to build on the momentum.
