The Pahrump Valley High School Lady Trojans junior varsity basketball team delivered a determined and energetic performance on Monday, December 8, defending their home court with a hard-fought 29–22 victory over the Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas Falcons.
Coral Academy opened the scoring, applying pressure early and forcing several turnovers, but the Lady Trojans quickly settled in. Adrian Rogers put Pahrump on the board by sinking her first free throw of the night, and moments later, after a defensive stop, she finished a clean look inside the paint to give PVHS a 3–2 lead.
From there, the Trojans began to find their rhythm. Kaylan Robinson knocked down a smooth jumper, followed by a strong breakaway play from Jaycie Hayes, who finished through contact to extend the lead to 9–2. Robinson continued to make plays on both ends, including a key steal that led to an assist for Cindal Monahan, who converted under the basket. Defensive coverage from players like Reagan Saldaña helped hold the Falcons to just three points in the opening quarter as PVHS took an 11–3 advantage.

In the second quarter, the Trojans’ hustle kept the momentum going. Abbey Sutton immediately made an impact off the bench—applying smart ball pressure, grabbing a steal, and helping set up Robinson for another basket. With continued defensive energy from Sutton, Hayes, and the rest of the squad, PVHS carried a 17–5 lead into halftime.
The Falcons stepped up their intensity in the third quarter, adding pressure and chipping away at the lead. Still, Robinson answered with a timely steal and fast-break layup, and the Trojans held on despite Coral Academy finding offensive rhythm late in the period. Thanks to a key lay-up from Aurora Bowers after a steal and push up the floor, Pahrump maintained a 19–15 lead heading into the final quarter.
The fourth quarter became a test of composure. Coral Academy tightened the score to 19–17, but the Lady Trojans responded with teamwork and poise. After a long pass over the press, Adrian Rogers finished a crucial basket, sparking a late push. Moments later, she added another post shot, giving PVHS breathing room as they moved ahead 23–17.

Monahan continued to pressure the Falcons into turnovers, while strong rebounding from players like Aurora Bowers kept possessions alive. In the closing minutes, Robinson broke free once more for a clean look under the basket, stretching the lead. With under a minute to play, Kimberly Trejo sealed the night with a wide-open layup that brought the Trojans to 29 points—enough to secure the 29–22 victory.
It was a collective effort defined by hustle, defensive stops, and persistent energy from start to finish. Through pressure, fast breaks, and smart decision-making, the Lady Trojans fought off a late surge and showed impressive resilience to claim the win at home.
