Zander Thompson earned a seventh-place finish to lead Pahrump Valley High School’s cross country runners at the 2026 O’Dea Frosh-Soph meet at Desert Breeze Park in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
The meet featured a 2.5-mile course with separate races for freshman and sophomore boys and girls. The top 15 finishers in each race received a shirt and a medal, while medals were awarded to the top 30.
Thompson finished first for the Trojans in the boys’ freshman race, completing the course in 15 minutes, 54.6 seconds. His seventh-place performance secured both a shirt and a medal, giving Pahrump a top-10 result at the meet. Fellow freshman Tanner Johnson also represented the Trojans, crossing the finish line in 25:16.4.

In the girls’ freshman race, Arianna Roberts and Brandie Blumer finished just over 10 seconds apart. Roberts led the pair with a time of 23:15.4, placing 31st overall, one spot outside the medal positions. Blumer followed in 33rd with a time of 23:25.6.

Isaiah Veloz represented Pahrump in the boys’ sophomore race, finishing the 2.5-mile course in 22:19.1. Tianna Beaver competed in the girls’ sophomore race and completed the course in 36:48.6.

With six runners competing across the four races, the meet gave Pahrump’s younger athletes another opportunity to gain race experience against others in their grade level. Thompson’s award-winning finish highlighted an afternoon that added another completed race to each Trojan’s season.
