The Pahrump Valley High School girls’ junior varsity soccer team put together a productive afternoon at home on Monday, Oct. 5, defeating the Moapa Valley Pirates 7-0 behind a hat trick from Brooklynn Mcmahon and two goals each from Raylee Smith and Alexis Pryor.
The Lady Trojans built a 4-0 halftime lead, connecting passes and creating repeated opportunities around the Pirates’ goal. They added three more goals in the second half while keeping Moapa Valley off the scoreboard through defensive clearances, timely challenges and goalkeeper Annabelle Boothe’s work in net.
Smith helped establish Pahrump’s offensive pressure early. With approximately 34 minutes remaining in the first half, she took a shot from the right side that was blocked. Two minutes later, she raced to another ball on the right and got off a quick attempt that went wide.
McMahon opened the scoring with 25:15 remaining, finishing a shot from the left side to give the Lady Trojans a 1-0 lead. She returned to nearly the same spot a few minutes later after a ball played forward from the right side near midfield reached her on the left. With the Pirates’ goalkeeper coming out, Mcmahon sent a slow-rolling shot into the goal, doubling Pahrump’s advantage to 2-0.
The Lady Trojans continued moving the ball into scoring position as the half progressed. Pryor sent an attempt wide right with about 12 minutes remaining. A minute later, Josephina (Josie) Gaitan helped clear the ball away from Pahrump’s goal, starting a sequence that carried the action back upfield. The ball reached McMahon, who passed to Smith for a shot that sailed high.

Smith also connected with Isabella Tavaglione for an attempt with approximately 8:30 remaining, but the Pirates’ goalkeeper collected it.
Pryor added Pahrump’s third goal shortly afterward, scoring from the left side with about eight minutes left in the half. The Lady Trojans kept pressing, with Mcmahon finding Smith near the goal on another possession and Smith carrying the ball up the middle before the goalkeeper came out to pick it up.
With approximately five minutes remaining, Mcmahon delivered another well-placed pass from the left side to Smith. Smith dribbled forward and finished her shot, extending the lead to 4-0.

Moapa Valley’s goalkeeper stopped additional Pahrump attempts in the closing minutes, including another shot from Smith. At the other end, the Lady Trojans’ defense cleared a Pirates set piece from outside the penalty area with less than two minutes remaining, helping preserve the four-goal advantage heading into halftime.
Pahrump resumed its offensive pressure after the break. Carmen Gonzales took a free kick from outside the penalty area early in the second half, sending the ball over the goal.
With approximately 32 minutes remaining, another attacking sequence brought the ball through Gonzales and into Mcmahon’s path as the goalkeeper came out. Mcmahon finished for her third goal of the afternoon, completing her hat trick and giving Pahrump a 5-0 lead.
Gaitan later sent a ball forward from near midfield that Mcmahon chased, although the Pirates’ goalkeeper came out to catch it. Alexis Denning also looked to connect with Mcmahon as the Lady Trojans continued working the ball toward the goal.
Pryor scored her second goal with approximately 27 minutes remaining, placing a shot from the far left over the goalkeeper to push the lead to 6-0.

Smith completed the scoring with about 19 minutes left. Carrying the ball up the left side, she worked past a defender and took a shot that the goalkeeper knocked down. Smith stayed with the play, getting two more touches before putting the ball into the net for her second goal and Pahrump’s seventh.
The Lady Trojans continued contributing at both ends of the field through the remaining minutes. Boothe collected a ball with approximately 16:30 left, while Marissaann Peticolas-Roberts had a shot from inside the penalty area knocked away by the Pirates’ goalkeeper. Gaitan added a deep attempt on goal, and Biannet Lozano Chavez worked the ball forward late in the match.
Mcmahon’s passing helped create opportunities alongside her three goals, while Smith’s follow-up finish and Pryor’s well-placed shots gave Pahrump multiple ways to convert its possessions. Supported by a defense that kept Moapa Valley scoreless, the Lady Trojans finished the afternoon with a decisive home victory.
