The Pahrump Valley High School tennis program had a strong showing against Virgin Valley High School, with both the boys and girls teams coming out on top in their matchups on the Bulldogs’ newly renovated courts. The Lady Trojans secured an 11-7 victory, while the boys team earned a 12-6 win.

On the boys’ side, all of the singles players swept their matches, setting the tone for the day. The doubles pair of Bryce Dykstra and Juan Carlos Rodriguez bounced back after dropping their first set to capture two wins, adding crucial points to the team total. Ethan Johnson and Nicholas Watson contributed one point as well, pushing the Trojans over the top. The doubles combinations of Taysom Christensen, Chase Hanson, and Everett Southwick are still chasing their first win of the season, but continue to compete hard and build valuable match experience.

For the Lady Trojans, singles players Chanel Anthony and Nyomi Skinner were unstoppable, winning all three of their matches each. Ally Amador also picked up a singles win to help strengthen the team’s lead. In doubles, the pairs of Layla Burnell and Milly Khandpur, along with Aurora Bowers and Elise Eichner, earned two victories apiece. The third doubles teams, Lily Gregory and Sara Miller along with Jane Anson and Malynda Scheer, continue to work toward their first wins of the season, gaining important time on the court to develop their play.

Head Coach Michael Dela Rosa praised the effort from both teams, saying, “Our players showed a lot of fight today and found ways to earn points when it mattered most. Even those still looking for their first win are gaining experience and improving each match, which is just as important for the growth of our program.”
The Trojans now look ahead to their next challenges, with a road match against Moapa Valley High School on Friday, September 12 at 3 p.m., followed by a home match on Saturday, September 13 at 3 p.m. against American Heritage.
