Despite the challenges of competing during spring break, the Pahrump Valley High School track and field team delivered a powerful performance at The Meadows weekday meet on Thursday, April 24. With several regular athletes unavailable, the Trojans relied on a dedicated core group to represent the team and did so with determination, capturing multiple first-place finishes across track and field events.

The meet featured competition from Amplus Academy, CIVICA Academy of Nevada, Indian Springs, Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon, The Meadows, Western High School, and Pahrump Valley, giving the Trojans ample opportunity to showcase their talent against a variety of opponents.

In the boys 100m dash, Randy Murray led the Trojans with a second-place finish in 12.08 seconds, followed closely by Tramaine Burras in fourth and Keegan Freeman in fifth. The team’s depth was on full display with strong times from Tristan Schumacher, Justin Byers, and several other runners contributing competitive efforts.

The 200m dash saw Ben De Santiago take first with a commanding 23.89, with teammates James Dela Rosa and Tristan Schumacher also placing well. De Santiago returned to dominate the 400m dash in 51.81, securing another first-place finish for the Trojans, with Schumacher and Eric Figueroa Renteria earning fifth and sixth respectively.

In distance events, Antonio Veloz took first in the 800m with a time of 2:12.59, while Valery Romero won both the girls 400m and 800m events. Joaquin Flores delivered a standout day, winning both the 1600m and 3200m runs. Veloz placed second in the 1600m, making it a one-two finish for Pahrump in that event.

On the girls’ side, Jules Ondrisko dominated the 1600m and won the 300m hurdles, leading a strong hurdle group that included top-three finishes from Diona Nixon and Ella Odegard.

In the hurdle events, Randy Murray grabbed first in the boys 110m hurdles, while Nixon took first in the girls 100m hurdles. Jayden Crisler added points with a second-place finish in the boys 300m hurdles.

The Trojans also impressed in relays, with the boys claiming first in both the 4×100 and 4x200m events and the girls securing a first-place finish in the 4x800m relay.

In the field events, the Trojans dominated the throws. Brenden Thorn and Sonny Skinner went one-two in the boys discus, while Tiler Ledford won both the girls shot put and discus. In the boys shot put, Hunter Mellinger and Skinner finished second and third, with several teammates also contributing solid marks.

Jayden Crisler soared to first place in both the boys long jump and triple jump, with Tristan Schumacher taking first in the high jump, setting a personal best of 5 feet 10 inches. Savannah Thompson was a standout in the girls long jump, finishing second, and added a strong performance in the triple jump as well.

From sprints to distance and relays to field events, the Trojans showed depth, adaptability, and perseverance throughout the meet. With just one regular season competition remaining on Friday, May 2, the team is building strong momentum heading into the Regional Championships, which will take place on May 9 and 10.
