Dear Readers,
One year ago, on August 1, 2024, we launched Pahrump Valley Community News with a simple but powerful mission: to tell the stories that matter most to our community. Today, as we celebrate our first anniversary online, I want to take a moment to thank you—our readers, supporters, and advertisers—for helping us grow into something truly special.
Since that first story went live, we’ve published more than 750 stories (and counting!), covering everything from student spotlights and high school sports to small business features, community events, local government, and so much more. Over the past year, we’ve reached tens of thousands of people through social media and our website, building a space where local stories truly matter. Your clicks, shares, and messages of encouragement have helped us grow every step of the way.
We also couldn’t have made it through this first year without the unwavering support of our advertisers, whose generosity and belief in our mission have been nothing short of extraordinary. Running a local news outlet is not without its challenges—stories don’t tell themselves, and keeping the lights on takes more than passion alone. Your support has not only helped us stay afloat but has made it possible to keep shining a light on the people, places, and events that make Pahrump so special.
To Avena & Sons Electric, Enhanced Aesthetics & Wellness, AXE Exterminators, Desert View Hospital, Brian Strain State Farm, Aesthetics by Kat, Faith Nation, Living Free, Marianne Yoffee, Newvine Law, Golden Entertainment (Pahrump Nugget), Our Place, Pahrump Station Laundromat, and VeloBazaar Bike Shop—thank you. Your investment in community journalism goes far beyond ad space. It is a partnership that helps tell the stories that matter and ensures that Pahrump has a platform dedicated to celebrating, informing, and uplifting its residents. We are endlessly grateful for your trust and support.
A special thank you also goes to Mackayla Turley and Karen Taylor, whose heartfelt columns have added depth and compassion to our publication. Mackayla’s reflections on motherhood and the importance of community in raising a family have resonated with so many. Karen’s insights on caregiving—navigating grief and depression, especially associated with dementia, and the quiet strength it takes to support others—have offered comfort and understanding to readers who need it most. Your voices have brought warmth, wisdom, and connection to our pages, and we are so grateful for your contributions.
This past year has been an incredible journey. We’ve learned, grown, and built something we’re proud to call a trusted voice. And this is only the beginning.
Thank you for being a part of our story.
With gratitude,
Amy Veloz

So much heartfelt congratulations Amy!!!!!
Amy, I love reading your positive news articles about our town. Lots of newsworthy occurrences that never make it in the printed media. No embellishment, no fake news, just great reporting of what is actually happening here.
Keep it up, and best wishes for continued success,
Nancy Davis
