The Pahrump Valley High School girls’ soccer team continued creating opportunities and making key defensive stops in its regular season finale Wednesday, Oct. 21, at The Meadows. Although the Lady Trojans fell to the Mustangs, they will have another opportunity against the same opponent when postseason play begins Monday, Oct. 26.
Pahrump enters the playoffs in fifth place and will return to Meadows to face the fourth-place Mustangs at 6 p.m.
Wednesday’s meeting featured repeated efforts by the Lady Trojans to move the ball into scoring position, while goalkeeper Jazmyn Herrera and the Pahrump defense worked to contain Meadows at the other end.
With approximately 33 minutes remaining in the first half, Patience Moore challenged defensively and forced the ball out of bounds, helping Pahrump regain possession and clear it away. Avery Farruggia helped generate an attacking opportunity shortly afterward, centering the ball from the left side.

Sydney Crotty added a deep shot following a throw-in with about 27:30 remaining, sending her attempt left of the goal. Farruggia continued pursuing the ball near the Mustangs’ net, challenging a clearance and helping keep the attack alive before the Meadows goalkeeper collected it.
Herrera remained active throughout the half, coming forward to gather loose balls and intercept developing plays. With approximately 25 minutes left, she fell on a Meadows shot following a throw-in, allowing Pahrump to move back upfield.
Alexis Pryor contributed another defensive recovery near the midway point of the half, chasing down the ball and kicking it away for a Meadows corner. The Lady Trojans then cleared the ensuing opportunity.
One of Herrera’s notable saves came with about 11 minutes remaining. Meadows broke forward along the right side and sent the ball across toward the left, where Herrera stretched out to stop a rolling shot.
The Mustangs broke through roughly a minute later, scoring after a throw-in to take a 1–0 lead. Pahrump continued looking for an answer before halftime, working the ball toward goal and getting additional touches on a late opportunity before Meadows cleared it. The Lady Trojans entered the break trailing by one.
Early in the second half, Herrera deflected a Meadows attempt, but the Mustangs reached the loose ball and finished to extend their lead to 2–0.
Pahrump continued pressing forward. With approximately 31 minutes remaining, the Lady Trojans put the ball into the net, but an offside call disallowed the goal.
Melissa Nunez-Ramirez followed with an attempt from the right wing that sailed high with about 28 minutes left. Later, Pahrump sent a bouncing ball toward goal that the Meadows keeper caught, then earned another opportunity following a Mustang handball. The resulting sequence ended with a shot rolling right of the net.

Herrera continued coming forward to clear dangerous balls and dropping onto loose possessions as the half progressed. The Lady Trojans also kept searching for chances from distance, including another deep attempt from the right wing.
The regular season finale gave Pahrump a recent look at the opponent it will face to open the postseason. The Lady Trojans now turn their attention to Monday’s return trip, with a chance to turn their attacking opportunities into goals and advance in the playoffs.
