The Pahrump Valley High School junior varsity wrestling team displayed determination and perseverance on Saturday, December 14, 2024, as they faced off against tough opponents in a series of matches. The Trojans competed against Centennial, Silverado, Founders Academy, and Cimarron-Memorial, finishing the day with two hard-earned victories and two narrow losses. Throughout the day, the team demonstrated their growth, grit, and commitment to improvement.
The Trojans began their day against Centennial, where they fell 21-47 in a challenging matchup. Despite the setback, the team rallied in their second match, defeating Silverado with an impressive 46-24 scoreline. The third match against Founders Academy was a close contest, ending in a 29-38 loss. Undeterred, the Trojans finished strong with a thrilling 33-30 victory over Cimarron-Memorial.
Every wrestler contributed to the team’s effort, showcasing their skills and determination. Paul Walker (190 lbs) led the charge with an outstanding 4-0 record, delivering dominant performances in all his matches. Samuel Sylva (113 lbs), Samson Wagner (126 lbs), and Bryce Whitney (138 lbs) each turned in strong showings, finishing with 3-1 records and earning crucial points for the team.
Horus Cantwell (144 lbs), Jace Eichner (150 lbs), and Kelsen Cross-Smith (175 lbs) each went 2-2 on the day, providing consistent and valuable efforts in their respective weight classes. Azael Machuta (120 lbs) secured a well-earned victory in one of his matches, demonstrating his determination and drive. While Bryce Howard (215 lbs) and Marlon (Heavyweight) faced tough competition and finished 0-4, their dedication and resilience were evident throughout the day.
The Trojans’ performances reflected the heart and commitment of each wrestler. As the season continues, the JV wrestlers are eager to build on this experience and improve with every match. Their determination and team spirit remain unwavering as they represent Pahrump Valley High School with pride.
