The Rosemary Clarke Middle School (RCMS) Cross Country team concluded their season with a strong performance at the Falcon Invitational, held on Saturday, September 28, at Foothill High School. The team showcased resilience and dedication, with standout individual performances across the board.
Leading the charge for the boys’ team was Zander Thompson, who placed 14th with a time of 13:32. Thompson’s performance capped off a remarkable season where he earned a medal in every race he competed in. “I’m excited to have him for one more year of middle school,” said the team’s coach, reflecting on Thompson’s consistency and determination throughout the season.
Following Thompson, the remaining RCMS boys’ runners also put forth a solid effort. Kamdon Jones, a 7th grader, secured 51st place with a time of 15:14, while Jacob Harker finished 69th in 15:52. William Cassell, a 6th grader, clocked in at 19:59, and Isaiah Veloz, an 8th grader, finished in 22:06. Rounding out the team were Jordan Garcia (22:11), Marciano McDonald (22:32), Jaxson Castaneda (23:30), and Jacob De Santiago (30:09), all contributing to a strong season for RCMS.
On the girls’ side, Sierra Eichner led the team with a 26th place finish and a time of 16:34, despite only competing in the last two races of the season due to a foot injury. Eichner has been challenging teammate Addy Murphy in recent races, with Murphy finishing just behind her, in 29th place.
“Sierra came back from her injury with determination and really made a strong impact in these last two races,” said Coach Veloz. “It’s been great to see her push herself and improve in such a short time.”
Other key performances included Daniela Abarca-Franco, who placed 64th with a time of 18:27, and Brandie Blumer, who finished in 20:44. Victoria Thompson (24:36) and Lynette Doty (25:47) completed the season with solid performances as well.
Reflecting on the season, Coach Veloz expressed pride in the team’s progress. “Coach Floyd and I have had a great season and have seen improvement from all of our runners,” he said. “I’m proud of their effort and look forward to seeing our 8th graders transition to high school cross country at PVHS next year.”
As the season wraps up, the RCMS Sharks celebrate a year of growth, improvement, and strong performances that set the foundation for future success.
