Pahrump Valley High School celebrated academic excellence and leadership during the National Honor Society (NHS) induction ceremony, held on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher were invited to apply for membership, with many sophomores, juniors, and seniors meeting the rigorous academic standard.
The ceremony was led by NHS advisors Rachel Hill and Mackenzie Nettles, alongside current NHS officers. Mrs. Hill opened the event by sharing the history of the National Honor Society and the organization’s impact on students and communities across the nation. After her introduction, the program was turned over to the student officers.
President Michael Keyes emphasized the importance of Scholarship in a student’s journey, highlighting the value of continuous learning. Vice President Analise Veloz then spoke about the significance of Leadership and how it influences personal growth and the betterment of others. Treasurer Angelina Valdez shared insights on the spirit of Service and the importance of giving back to the community. Finally, Secretary Gianni Ayala reflected on the role of Character in developing integrity and personal responsibility. As each officer shared their message, a candle was lit to symbolize the four core values of the National Honor Society: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character.
Following the officer presentations, Mr. Nettles announced the names of the new inductees, with Mrs. Hill presenting each student with a certificate to mark their achievement. The students inducted into the PVHS chapter of the National Honor Society were:

The ceremony concluded with the newly inducted members reading the NHS pledge, officially welcoming them into the society. This pledge reflects their commitment to uphold the core principles of NHS and to continue striving for academic and personal excellence.
