The Pahrump Valley High School auditorium was filled with music, emotion, and applause on the evening of May 13 as the PVHS Choir held its final concert of the 2024–2025 school year. Under the direction of Band Director Dr. Benjamin Gooch, students from Beginning Choir, Mixed Chorus, and various solo and ensemble acts came together to deliver a heartfelt and memorable performance to cap off the academic year.

The evening opened with the Beginning Choir presenting “The Clouds” by Cynthia Gray, a soft and reflective piece that set the tone for the evening. The performance was elevated by Elise Eichner’s accompaniment on piano, providing a rich foundation for the choir’s harmonies.

Following the group’s opening number, the spotlight shifted to soloists and small ensembles, each bringing their own personality and artistry to the stage. Jailee Clark delivered a touching rendition of “I Wouldn’t Mind” by He is We, with Tiffany Sartin performing American Sign Language alongside her, adding a powerful visual element that resonated deeply with the audience. Alexis Clouser’s emotional interpretation of “My Immortal” by Evanescence showcased her vocal range and ability to connect with the song’s haunting lyrics.

Addie Allen, accompanied by Emery Miller-Rocha on guitar, performed “Foolish Girl” by Marjorie, a performance that was both tender and sincere. The duo created a quiet moment of reflection that lingered well after the final chord. Next, Kylee Sigmund took the stage with Luigi DeAngelis on keyboard to perform Bruno Mars’ ballad “When I Was Your Man,” delivering a heartfelt performance that earned cheers from the crowd.

One of the standout ensemble numbers featured Christien Ramiscal, Peau Pectol, and Michael Christen performing “Die a Happy Man” by Thomas Rhett, blending vocals and guitar work to create a warm, country-inspired moment that drew smiles from the audience.

The evening continued with the Mixed Chorus performing “Come and Go With Me,” arranged by Gilpin. The upbeat and engaging number brought renewed energy to the auditorium and highlighted the students’ cohesive choral sound.
As the night came to a close, the Combined Choirs united their voices in a moving rendition of “Dona Nobis Pacem,” a song that speaks to peace and unity—an appropriate message for the conclusion of a year’s worth of hard work, growth, and shared musical experience.
The grand finale invited the audience to take part in the music with a sing-along of the classic “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” written by Peretti, Creatore, and Weiss. The atmosphere was intimate and joyful as Ellarose Brondo accompanied the group on guitar and Kenny Rudd provided rhythm on drums. Voices from the stage and the audience blended together in a moment of connection that perfectly captured the spirit of the night.

The concert was more than just a performance—it was a celebration of student talent, dedication, and the unifying power of music. As the 2024–2025 school year comes to an end, the PVHS choir students can look back with pride on a night that brought the community together through song.
