The Pahrump Valley High School (PVHS) Trojans track and field team had an impressive showing at the Arbor View Newcomers Meet on Friday, February 28. This event, which welcomes first-year track athletes of all grade levels, provided a great opportunity for the Trojans to showcase their developing talent.

The Lady Trojans put forth strong performances in both sprints and distance races. In the 100m dash, Heavenly Ware led the way with a 9th-place finish out of 51 runners, clocking in at 14.32 seconds. Valery Romero followed closely in 11th place (14.54), while McKinsey Nottingham, Jordan Onigkeit, and Addi Nelsen all placed in the top 30.

Romero and Onigkeit also delivered in the 400m dash, finishing 8th and 9th, respectively, with times of 1:10.26 and 1:10.69. Keelee Gieni had a solid performance in the 1600m run, finishing 4th in 7:41.23, while Anoushka Domhom competed in the 800m run with a time of 3:26.40.

In the throwing events, Joshua Flores led the way in discus with a throw of 45 feet, 2 inches, while Mariano Ayala recorded a shot put throw of 22 feet, 11.5 inches.

With a strong first outing in the books, the PVHS track team has plenty of momentum moving forward.

Head Coach Dan Nagle praised the team’s effort, stating, “For Newcomers the biggest thing I look for is that we compete! We definitely did that plus some! We had a couple of real good performances.”

The Trojans are now looking forward to their upcoming meets, where they will continue to build on their successes and gain valuable experience. If their performance at Arbor View is any indication, this group of athletes has a bright future ahead in PVHS track and field.
