On March 6, the Pahrump Valley High School Choir and Musical Theatre students, under the direction of Dr. Benjamin Gooch, brought the stage to life with a dynamic evening of music and performance, culminating in a condensed 30-minute adaptation of The Pirates of Penzance. The Spring Choir and Musical Theatre Project featured not only talented PVHS students but also a special appearance from the Pahrump Community Choir, making for an unforgettable night of vocal artistry.
The evening began with the Pahrump Community Choir, which captivated the audience with a setlist that included Mountain Music, Flying Free, and a lively It’s My Party medley. Their harmonious performance set the perfect tone for the night ahead.

Following this, the PVHS Beginning Choir took the stage, delivering a beautiful rendition of Hallelujah (Shrek version) and Hine Ma Tov, showcasing their vocal depth and range. The solo performances that followed highlighted the exceptional individual talents of the students—Ellarose Brondo enchanted the audience with In My Own Little Corner from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, while Addie Allen commanded the stage with a striking rendition of Funny Honey from Chicago.

After a brief intermission, the highlight of the night commenced—a condensed 30-minute performance of The Pirates of Penzance. The cast delivered an energetic and engaging adaptation of the classic operetta, performing seven songs and a grand finale that left the audience thoroughly entertained. Accompanied by Debbie Johnson on piano and Kenneth Rudd on percussion, the performance was a testament to the dedication and skill of PVHS’s choir and musical theatre students.

For those who missed this fantastic production—or simply want to experience it again—there will be a second performance on March 14th. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and this time, the PVHS Culinary Department will be offering “Bites and Ballads,” making for an evening of great food and even greater entertainment.
Don’t miss out on this special night of music, talent, and community spirit!
