The Pahrump Valley High School track and field team delivered an outstanding performance at the Ken Jensen Invitational, held at Virgin Valley High School on Friday, March 14. The Trojans secured impressive team placements, with the girls’ team finishing first overall and the boys earning second place, just behind Spring Creek.
The PVHS relay teams had a strong showing across multiple events. The girls’ 4x800m relay team placed second with a time of 11:59.87. The boys’ 4x800m relay team, consisting of Aydon Veloz, Joaquin Flores, Antonio Veloz, and Ben De Santiago, claimed first place with an impressive time of 8:59.24. The girls’ 4x200m relay team of Jules Ondrisko, Sasha Strain, Payton Weaver, and Diona Nixon secured first place with a time of 1:54.05, while the boys’ 4x200m relay team of James Dela Rosa, Justin Byers, Keegan Freeman, and Ulisses Alvarez also took first, finishing in 1:41.05. The girls’ 4x100m relay team finished second with a time of 54.53, while the boys’ 4x100m relay team, featuring Ulisses Alvarez, Randy Murray, James Dela Rosa, and Eric Figueroa Renteria, finished first at 47.80. The girls’ 4x400m relay team of Sasha Strain, Jules Ondrisko, Addi Nelsen, and Staisha Perry won first place with a time of 4:49.52, and the boys’ 4x400m relay team, composed of Ben De Santiago, Lucas Gavenda, Aydon Veloz, and Antonio Veloz, also secured first with a time of 3:39.95.











Several Trojan athletes delivered stellar performances in individual races. In the girls’ 100m hurdles, Diona Nixon took first place with a time of 19.26, and Ella Odegard finished third at 21.63. In the girls’ 100m dash, Rosie Miller placed second at 14.13, and Heavenly Ware finished third at 14.69. On the boys’ side, James Dela Rosa finished fifth in the 100m dash with a time of 12.73, followed by Ulisses Alvarez (13.22), Eric Figueroa Renteria (13.31), and Joshua Slusher (14.30). In the girls’ 1600m run, Kaylan Robinson finished fourth in 6:37.16, followed by Alexis Clouser (6:40.64), Alejandra Abarca-Franco (6:56.51), and Sophie Romero (7:00.26). In the boys’ 1600m run, Joaquin Flores secured second place with a time of 5:09.43, while Joshua Gent (5:29.99), Hunter Wydick (5:30.29), and Joshua Flores (5:55.88) rounded out the race.










The Trojans continued their dominance in the 400m dash, where Jules Ondrisko took first in the girls’ event with a time of 1:05.55, and Payton Weaver placed third at 1:08.40. In the boys’ event, Ben De Santiago finished first at 53.31, and Hunter Wydick clocked in at 1:03.20. The girls’ 300m hurdles saw a sweep of the top three spots, with Sasha Strain winning in 53.17, followed by Diona Nixon (55.73) and Ella Odegard (58.63). In the boys’ 300m hurdles, Jayden Crisler placed fifth in 48.82, followed by Joshua Slusher (51.26) and Ulisses Alvarez (52.57). In the girls’ 800m run, Jules Ondrisko dominated with a first-place finish of 2:41.90, while Kaylan Robinson placed third in 2:56.80. Antonio Veloz secured first in the boys’ 800m with a time of 2:09.62, followed by Daniel Thompson in third at 2:21.03.

The girls’ 200m dash saw Payton Weaver place second at 28.06, while on the boys’ side, James Dela Rosa finished in 24.39 and Keegan Freeman clocked in at 24.43. In the girls’ 3200m run, Alejandra Abarca-Franco finished third with a time of 15:05.01, while in the boys’ 3200m, Joaquin Flores took second at 11:08.86, followed by Joshua Gent in 12:11.95.
PVHS athletes made a strong impact in field events as well. In the girls’ long jump, Savannah Thompson finished second with a jump of 13 feet 5.25 inches. Jayden Crisler placed third in the boys’ long jump at 17 feet 7.5 inches. In the girls’ triple jump, Savannah Thompson finished second at 28 feet 3.5 inches. Jayden Crisler placed fourth in the boys’ triple jump at 37 feet 2.5 inches. In the high jump, Rosie Miller placed third for the girls at 4 feet 6 inches, while Aydon Veloz finished third for the boys, clearing 5 feet 4 inches.




In the shot put, Cailyn Marsh placed fourth for the girls at 23 feet 9 inches, and Hunter Mellinger had a throw of 37 feet 2 inches for the boys. In the discus, Jemima Chavez led the girls with a throw of 58 feet 5 inches, while Brenden Thorn recorded a top throw of 105 feet 6 inches for the boys.








Head Coach Dan Nagle expressed pride in his team’s performance, stating, “Last Friday, we traveled to Mesquite and saw a few good 3A teams, and the girls completely dominated. The boys took home a lot of medals but came up a little short against a very strong Spring Creek team.” Nagle highlighted standout athletes, noting, “We had multiple girls win all four of their events, including Sasha Strain and Julianna Ondrisko. The boys also earned multiple medals, with Ben De Santiago and Antonio Veloz placing in all three of their events.”
With a stellar showing at the Ken Jensen Invitational, the Pahrump Valley High School track and field team continues to showcase their talent and determination. The Trojans will look to build on their momentum as they prepare for upcoming meets in their season.
