Kimberley and Dan Loveless, co-owners of Our Place, a specialty coffee house in Pahrump, have been bringing a unique blend of warmth and quality to the community since their official opening on January 15th. The Loveless family, including daughter Kasi Custard who is part of the Leadership team at Our Place, have created a haven for locals to gather, sip, and celebrate.
Having moved to Pahrump from Vegas nine months ago, Dan and Kimberely were driven by a deep-rooted desire to provide a space for connection and enjoyment. “We wanted this community to have somewhere to go,” Kimberley shared. The idea blossomed from their experiences in Oregon and Washington, where they had previously run a similar establishment. Their move to Pahrump was influenced by their adult children, including Kasi, and grandchildren who live in the area, seeking a place that would cater to their needs and those of the broader community.
Our Place is not just any coffee shop. It stands out as a specialty coffee house with a focus on handcrafted beverages, pastries and lite bites. Kimberley elaborated, “We decided to level up a little bit from your average coffee house and offer lite bites. So, the lite bites that we offer are not going to be like bacon, eggs, you know, side of toast sort of a thing. We want to give you something more.”
The interior of Our Place exudes a welcoming and uplifting atmosphere. “We want people to feel light when they walk in, like they can release the stress of their day,” Kimberley explained. The space has become a favorite spot for various groups, from study groups and community meet ups, teenagers after school to moms looking for a break, and even professionals working remotely. “Everyone is welcome at Our Place,” Kimberley added. “We want everyone and anyone to feel comfortable coming in, enjoying a beverage or a snack and to feel free to stay a while.” Our Place’s main location features a main dining area, a back room with a comfy booth area and play corner for kiddos, and an outdoor patio area. Our Place also offers WiFi for customers.
The Lovelesses have meticulously crafted their menu, sourcing coffee beans roasted locally in Henderson. Kimberley highlighted the uniqueness of their offerings, “Our beans are a specialty roast just for us. You cannot get the roast anywhere else and every single cup is handmade. We feel like this takes the quality up a notch.” This attention to detail extends to all their drinks, including some of their most popular drinks, such as the hot chai with cold foam, lovingly described by customers as “Christmas in a cup.” Our Place also has a unique energy drink option called Lotus. These sparkling energy drinks are a plant-based energy drink often compared to the energy boost of a Red Bull and are a customer favorite. “It is also important to note that all of our coffee drinks can be served hot, iced or blended,” Kimberley added. “And our menu board is just a guideline. Let us know what you want and, as long as we are able, we will make it for you.”
Food offerings at Our Place are equally enticing, with favorites like Belgian waffles, French toast, and blueberry pancake rolls. They also offer a selection of paninis and a variety of pastries, ensuring there’s something for everyone without turning into a full restaurant. Our Place also offers non-dairy options for their drinks and make notes of special requests for specialty food items. “We keep a running tally of things that are requested and if enough of our customers request something, we will make every effort to offer it,” Kimberley said.
The journey of establishing Our Place has not been without challenges. In their first six months, they’ve worked to fine tune their hours to best accommodate the community. And the Lovelesses remain committed to adapting and improving as they go. They expressed their gratitude for the community’s support, “Serving the community and seeing that this is something the community was wanting, it just warms our hearts.”
Looking ahead, Our Place has exciting plans, including expanding their reach with a newly acquired coffee truck. This mobile addition will allow them to participate in local events and cater to private parties, bringing their beloved beverages and bites to more people.
Our Place currently has two physical locations, as well as the mobile coffee truck. Their main location is located at 1720 E Calvada Blvd and has summer hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday – Friday and 7 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Their second location is inside Intermountain Health at 1397 S Loop Rd., and they are open there from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday – Friday.
Thanks to the incredible support of the Pahrump community, Our Place is thrilled to announce the opening of its newest location. Coming November 1, 2024, Our Place will combine all physical locations into one larger facility. Located at 1401 S. HWY 160, Suite B, the new coffee house and meeting space will boast a spacious 4300 sq. ft. building. This location will feature meeting spaces, a rentable room for parties and gatherings, office space, a larger family gathering room, and much more. The space will also feature a drive-up. Customers can park in one of four reserved spots and Our Place staff will come to the car to greet you and take your order. They will also continue to offer “order ahead” through their website and the door-dash option. “The expansion is a true testament to the community’s love for Our Place,” Kimberley said. “We are so excited to grow into a bigger facility and offer more space for the people of Pahrump to come and gather.”
For those looking to stay updated on Our Place’s news and events, following them on social media or visiting their website is the best way. As Kimberley aptly put it, “We are active on social media. I would say Facebook is your best bet. Instagram, my daughter keeps that really well also. And then we have a website, ourplacepahrump.com.” The website allows for mobile ordering to be delivered curbside for the current locations and Our Place products are also available through Door Dash.
In a community that needed a place to gather, Kimberley and Dan Loveless have provided more than just a specialty coffee house—they’ve created a second home and a respite for many to gather, sip and celebrate.
