The PVHS Lady Trojans tennis team faced off against Cimarron-Memorial High School in a hard-fought regional tournament match, ultimately falling short with a 7-11 loss. Despite the outcome, the team showcased notable improvements, especially in their doubles performances and singles competitiveness.
Head Coach Michael Dela Rosa reflected on the match with optimism: “Our doubles teams made significant strides, improving by two set wins since our last meet-up against Cimarron. Even our singles players, while falling short, really pushed their opponents and showed improvement in their game. They hit hard and made their presence known on the court.”
In the doubles competition, Chloe Sitter-Jones and Chanel Anthony led the charge, winning all three of their matches. Layla Brunell and Cristiana Baang, along with Milly Khandpur and Nyomi Skinner, each secured two wins out of their three matches, demonstrating their growth and determination.
Although Alexis Staples, Jemi Chavez, and Abby Amador went 0-3 in their singles matches, they gave their opponents a tough challenge, playing with intensity and heart. The singles players were able to win games in their sets, signaling their continued development.
While the team may not have come away with the overall victory, the improvements and fight they displayed show just how much they’ve grown throughout the season, leaving a strong foundation for the future.
