The PVHS girls’ golf team showcased a strong performance once again, with their standout golfer, Aliana Zuniga, securing a third-place finish in their latest match held at the Palms, hosted by Moapa. Zuniga shot an impressive 81, placing her behind Abigail Llewellyn from Virgin Valley, who finished first with a 67, and Emmerson Hinds from Boulder City, who took second with a 68.

Head Coach Bob Hopkins praised Aliana’s overall play but noted that there’s still room for improvement. “Ali hit the ball great today, but she’ll be fine if she gets the putting down,” said Hopkins. He highlighted that while her putting improved on the back nine—where she shot a 39—she still needs to gain more confidence in her short game to reach her full potential.

Despite the challenges, Zuniga’s consistent performance and ability to adapt her game throughout the match were commendable. Coach Hopkins is optimistic about her growth, emphasizing that with more focus on her short game, Aliana has the potential to climb even higher in future competitions.

With the season still in progress, the PVHS girls’ golf team looks forward to building on their successes and continuing to develop their skills. Coach Hopkins and the team remain committed to working hard and making the necessary adjustments to finish strong this year.

The golf team plays again next Tuesday at Siena Golf Club.
