AZ Storage and RV Parking Brings Full-Service Convenience to Pahrump

When Justin and Sylvia Sumner opened AZ Storage and RV Parking at the end of May, they set out to offer something more than just storage units. For them, it was about creating a secure, high-quality, and service-driven facility that could meet the needs of a rapidly growing community. In just a few short months, they have already begun transforming expectations of what a local storage facility can be.

Justin and Sylvia co-manage the business, with Sylvia serving as managing director and Justin handling operations. The husband-and-wife team relocated to Pahrump just over four years ago from a smaller town in Oregon. Wanting to be close enough to Las Vegas for resources but preferring the open space of a smaller community, they quickly recognized an opportunity. “We noticed it ourselves—there just weren’t enough options for secure storage or reliable shipping services in town,” Justin explained. “We wanted to provide something better.”

AZ Storage and RV Parking, located at 2530 E Commerce Street, is already one of the largest facilities of its kind locally, with 296 doors offering units that range in size from 10×7 to 10×30. Beyond traditional storage, the Sumner’s have partnered with Truck Parking Club to provide secure parking for tractor-trailers, box trucks, and bobtails. For many truck drivers who would otherwise leave their rigs on the street or in unsecured lots, the arrangement has been a game changer. “We’ve had drivers say it feels like Airbnb for truckers,” Justin said.

Security is a central focus of the business. The facility features cameras throughout the property, gated access, and on-site property management. The Sumner’s are careful to balance accessibility with safety, offering gate hours from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. while also accommodating the unusual schedules of truck drivers. They emphasize that unlike some facilities, they don’t allow tenants to live in units or stay overnight, keeping the property secure and professional.

The services offered at AZ Storage go well beyond storage and parking. The couple has steadily rolled out new features to meet community needs, including U-Haul rentals, shipping, mailbox rentals, and notary services. The U-Haul side of the business has grown especially quickly, bringing in customers from across town. AZ Storage offers trucks ranging from 10 to 26 feet, trailers, dollies, and moving supplies, making it a one-stop shop for moving and storage needs. “We probably have the most U-Haul equipment in Pahrump right now,” Justin said, adding that the south-end location makes it convenient for many residents who would otherwise drive farther.

Shipping and mail services have also become a cornerstone. The facility was recently approved as a FedEx Authorized Ship Center, one of only two in Pahrump. That designation means customers can access both express and ground shipping, along with free packaging materials provided by FedEx. In addition, AZ Storage rents private mailboxes that can receive deliveries from USPS, Amazon, FedEx, and UPS—something a P.O. box can’t do. “People are tired of packages getting stolen or being left miles away from their house,” Justin said. “Here, they know their mail is secure.”

For those who travel frequently or live outside Pahrump, the Sumner’s also offer virtual mail services through iPostal One. Customers as far away as Tennessee use the service to have their mail received, scanned, forwarded, or securely shredded—all handled remotely. It’s one of the many ways AZ Storage has adapted to serve both local residents and customers nationwide.

The Sumner’s have also been deliberate in how they structure contracts and pricing. All storage rentals are month-to-month, with no long-term commitment required. Unlike many competitors, they don’t charge administrative fees, something Justin says customers appreciate. They also offer promotions, such as a free month of storage when customers prepay for two months, and discounts for veterans and first responders. To bolster security, the facility uses serialized locks through Da Vinci Solutions, allowing management to assist customers who lose their keys while maintaining detailed logs for accountability.

Though the business is young, it has already begun to carve out a reputation for providing services Pahrump residents didn’t even know they needed. Sylvia recently became a certified notary, offering appointments for anyone in town, whether or not they are a storage customer. Combined with shipping services, U-Haul rentals, mailboxes, and secure truck parking, AZ Storage has grown into something of a hub. “We’ve been telling people it’s more than just storage,” Justin said. “We want to be a one-stop shop for the community.”

Their growth reflects the changing demographics of Pahrump itself. As more families and professionals move in, the demand for reliable, secure services has risen. “People don’t want the Wild West experience,” Justin said with a laugh. “They want modern services but still want to enjoy the space and lifestyle out here. That’s what we’re trying to provide.”

With a newly launched website, growing social media presence, and more services on the way, AZ Storage and RV Parking is poised to keep expanding alongside the town it serves. Whether it’s a family moving across town, a truck driver in need of secure parking, or a business owner who needs reliable shipping, Justin and Sylvia Sumner are making sure Pahrump has a place to turn.
