The Pahrump Valley High School boys’ golf team received a heartfelt send-off on the morning of Sunday, May 11, as they departed for the NIAA 3A State Golf Championship in Elko. Friends and family gathered to show their support, joined by members of the Nye County Sheriff’s Office and Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue, who helped escort the team out of town with lights flashing in encouragement. Pahrump Mother’s Corner is inviting local families to celebrate parenthood, community support, and essential resources at the 4th Annual Community Baby Shower, taking place on Friday, May 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at NyE Communities Coalition, located at 1020 E. On Saturday, May 10, Sleep in Heavenly Peace hosted its spring Community Bed Build, bringing together 35 volunteers determined to make a difference in the lives of local children. With sawdust in the air and a spirit of service guiding every movement, the team crafted a total of 24 beds in just one day. These newly built beds are provided to children in need throughout the county, each one complete with a mattress, pillow, and bedding to ensure every recipient has a safe, comfortable place to sleep. The Floyd Elementary Gardening Club capped off its after-school season with an exciting field trip to Green Life Produce on Wednesday, May 14. The visit brought approximately 20 students, along with their parents and club advisors Ms. Luna and Ms. Sandy, to the local farm for a behind-the-scenes look at sustainable agriculture in action. The group arrived at the farm around 4 p.m. and was warmly welcomed by owners Steve and Kouanin Cantwell and Brad Thurmond, who led the tour. The Pahrump Valley High School auditorium was filled with music, emotion, and applause on the evening of May 13 as the PVHS Choir held its final concert of the 2024–2025 school year. Under the direction of Band Director Dr. Benjamin Gooch, students from Beginning Choir, Mixed Chorus, and various solo and ensemble acts came together to deliver a heartfelt and memorable performance to cap off the academic year. The Pahrump Valley High School track and field team was sent out in style as they departed for the Nevada State Championships, with friends, family, and school staff lining up to cheer them on. The Pahrump Valley High School Lady Trojans’ quest for a state championship came to a close on Friday, May 9, in a hard-fought 5-4 loss to the Virgin Valley Bulldogs. The regional playoff matchup, held at Durango High School, was a tense back-and-forth contest, with both teams showcasing grit and determination until the final out. Supporters of the Pahrump Valley High School Trojans volleyball team have a flavorful opportunity to give back to their local athletes while enjoying a meal out. On Saturday, May 17, from 4 to 8 p.m., the Chipotle located at 540 S. Highway 160 in Pahrump will host a fundraiser to benefit the PVHS volleyball program.
