The Rosemary Clarke Middle School Sharks A Team gave fans an exciting matchup on Thursday, September 25, when they faced Lake Mead Christian Academy at home. The Sharks played with grit and teamwork through all three sets, showing determination and steady improvement as the night went on.
The opening set saw RCMS adjusting to Lake Mead’s strong serving, with players like Milea Freitas-Faamai and Emri Wulfenstein making key plays at the net. Despite strong efforts from the Sharks, Lake Mead pulled ahead to take the first set 25–18.

The second set, however, turned into one of the most thrilling comebacks of the season. Down 14–5, the Sharks refused to quit. A strong serving run helped shift the momentum, while Daisy Skougard and Kali Smith stepped up under pressure. “Kali brought the heat with five amazing serves,” said Head Coach Amanda Smith. “Daisy chipped in four—including the winning serve in set two.”
Smart plays from setters kept the offense moving, setting up powerful spikes and clever tips from the front line. The crowd erupted when the Sharks rallied back to win the second set 25–23, showing their ability to stay composed and focused when it mattered most.
In the deciding third set, Lake Mead regained control early, but the Sharks fought for every point. The back row held strong, diving for saves and keeping rallies alive, while the front row stayed aggressive at the net. Lake Mead ultimately took the final set 15–7, but RCMS left the court with heads held high.

“Our team showed heart and hustle in a competitive three-set match,” Coach Smith said. “Even though we came up short in the final set, the team fought hard every point and showed amazing teamwork and growth.”
With continued improvement across the board and undeniable chemistry, the Sharks are proving that their effort, focus, and drive will make them a team to watch.
