The Rosemary Clarke Sharks traveled to Indian Springs for an eventful cross-country meet held on Saturday, September 27th. The challenging course, which saw a field of 42 male runners and 48 female runners from various schools compete, was run mostly on a gravel trail through the desert. It featured two prominent hills, demanding high effort from every athlete. The day was ultimately marked by strong performances across both the boys’ and girls’ rosters. Coach Ben Veloz commented on the successful meet and the challenging venue, stating, “This was the first time we have traveled to this race. It was a great small-town setting and a challenging course. Coach Floyd and I have seen our runners getting stronger every week, and their race times have been reflecting their efforts.”
The boys’ race saw Zander Thompson lead the Sharks with an impressive 2nd-place finish and a time of 13:29. Close behind was Ozias Ofseur, who secured a 10th-place finish with a time of 14:41. Rounding out the primary scoring group were Marzelo Nunez finishing in 18:34 and Mickey Sater clocking in at 19:34. The boys’ team depth was further displayed by Davin Gieni, who crossed the line at 21:08.




The girls’ team delivered an outstanding day with a deep roster. The front of the pack was led by Ellie Allen, who delivered a stunning 3rd-place finish with her time of 14:36. She was immediately followed by teammate A’riyah Ruffin, who secured 4th place at 14:45. Sierra Eichner posted a solid time of 17:02, and River Carson posted a time of 17:59.




The lady Sharks showed tremendous finishing strength as the race went on and were seen working in groups to reach the finish line. Brandie Blumer finished with a time of 19:47, just ahead of Kenzley Pace at 20:03 and Sophia Maurillo at 20:16. Other runners who completed the course for the Rosemary Clarke Sharks included Nai’La Myrick (21:24), Maddlyn Scott (21:43), Charlaine Maurillo (22:00), Monica Littau (22:01), Delilah Quezada (22:03), Scarlett Quezada (24:27), and Emma Tallent (26:10).




The successful competitive day for the Sharks program was highlighted by the sheer number of athletes completing the course.
