Honored during halftime of the home football game on Friday, October 17, were August awardees Heavenly Ware (Volleyball) and TC Hone (Boys Soccer), along with September honorees Billy Sparks (Football) and Nyomi Skinner (Girls Tennis). The Student-Athlete of the Month program, overseen by Athletic Director Jennifer Hagstrom, celebrates students who demonstrate academic commitment, leadership, and sportsmanship. The Pahrump Valley High School gym was filled with laughter, cheers, and community spirit on Sunday, October 19, as the Nye County Sheriff’s Office hosted its first annual Blocktober Fest, a charity volleyball event organized by Sergeant Josette DuBois and Deputy Andi Bishop. The light-hearted competition brought together local law enforcement officers for a good cause, raising $900 to benefit PVHS Athletics and the Avery Project—a local nonprofit that donates new bicycles to children each Christmas. The Pahrump Valley High School tennis program made a strong showing at the Class 3A Southern Region Tournament, held Thursday and Friday, October 16–17, at Bishop Gorman High School. Competing against some of the region’s toughest athletes, the Trojans demonstrated skill and composure on the court—highlighted by junior standout Chanel Anthony, who claimed the regional championship title and advanced to the State Tournament. The Rosemary Clarke Middle School Sharks football team wrapped up their regular season in commanding fashion on Saturday, October 19, shutting out Round Mountain 43–0 at home in Pahrump. The victory cemented the Sharks’ undefeated record in league play and secured them the top seed heading into this Saturday’s championship game. Quarterback Stetson Brown led the way for the Sharks, contributing in every phase of the offense with both a touchdown pass and a touchdown run. The Pahrump Valley High School cross country teams continued their standout season on Saturday, October 18, at the Coaches Association Invitational held at Cornerstone Park in Henderson. With evening races at 5:00, 5:30, and 6:00 p.m., the Trojans showed unity, endurance and competitive drive all divisions—earning first place overall finishes for both the boys’ and girls’ varsity teams. The Pahrump Valley High School boys’ tennis team showed tremendous heart in the Class 3A Southern Regional Semifinals on Thursday, October 9, taking on Coral Sandy Ridge at Whitney Mesa in Henderson. Although the Trojans ultimately fell just short in a tiebreaker, the match demonstrated their competitive spirit and season-long growth.
