The Pahrump Valley High School boys’ volleyball team hit the road Wednesday, April 15, taking on the Boulder City Eagles in a competitive matchup that showcased hustle, effort and flashes of strong play throughout all three sets.

From the opening serve, the Trojans worked to find their rhythm. Early in the first set, Andy Sanchez helped spark the offense with a well-placed tip to even the score, while Elijah Thompson added pressure at the net with an aggressive spike. The Trojans stayed within reach through the early points, capitalizing on Eagle errors and pushing the score back to even multiple times.

As the set progressed, Boulder City began to build separation, but Pahrump continued to fight. Sanchez delivered from the back row, showing versatility with a strong attack, while Thompson stepped up at the service line with an ace that helped cut into the deficit. One of the most energized moments came when Thompson hustled to keep a play alive with a foot save that sent the ball back into play, leading to a Trojan point and a surge of energy from the bench.

Late in the set, Sanchez continued to apply pressure, recording an ace and helping the Trojans string together points. Despite the late push, Boulder City held on to take the first set, 25-19.

The second set saw Pahrump continue to battle, with moments of solid execution at the net. James Wilson contributed with a strong block attempt, while the Trojans found success capitalizing on service errors from the Eagles. A clean kill midway through the set highlighted the team’s offensive potential, and Sanchez added another ace with a serve to the back corner.

The Trojans showed determination, working through long rallies and staying engaged on defense. However, Boulder City maintained control and secured the second set, 25-13.

In the third set, Pahrump continued to compete and looked to build momentum. Sanchez delivered several hard-driven spikes that forced difficult returns, and Elijah Thompson added another key kill to keep the Trojans pushing forward. The team showed resilience during extended volleys, working to keep plays alive and challenge the Eagles at the net.

Defensively, the Trojans recorded a solid block during the set, and continued to battle through tough serves and aggressive attacks from Boulder City. Late in the set, Sanchez added another ace, while the team capitalized on a service error to add to their total.

Despite the continued effort and determination, Boulder City closed out the match with a 25-12 third set.

While the final score didn’t fall in their favor, the Trojans showed strong effort, energy and moments of impressive play throughout the match, while demonstrating the kind of fight and teamwork that continues to build as the season progresses.
