The Pahrump Valley High School Auditorium came alive with festive cheer on Tuesday, December 17, as the PVHS Beginning Choir, Mixed Choir, and the Pahrump Community Choir joined forces for an enchanting evening of music. The performance, beginning at 6:30p.m., showcased an incredible range of talent, heartfelt melodies, and a communal spirit of celebration that brought the holiday season to life.
The Beginning Choir opened the evening with a spirited lineup, including the serene Noche de Paz and the playful Christmas…In About Three Minutes. Engaging the audience, the choir led a lively sing-along of Jingle Bells, followed by The Christmas Tree Feud, a creative and fun-filled piece. One of the highlights was a poignant rendition of O Come, O Come Emmanuel, performed as a duet by Alexis Clouser and her grandmother and member of the Community Choir, Lori Fleetwood-Watt, bringing a touching familial connection to the stage. Ellarose Brondo’s solo of Santa Baby charmed the audience, while the trio of Abigail O’Leary, Tasha Estein, and Lori Fleetwood-Watt captivated hearts with I’ll Be Home for Christmas. Another sing-along, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, had the entire auditorium joining in joyful harmony.
After a short intermission, the Pahrump Community Choir added its unique flair, performing a delightful mix of songs ranging from the soulful Down to the River to Pray to the humor-filled Three Minute Nutcracker. The choir’s rendition of Do You Hear What I Hear? was both stirring and reflective, and their trio of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, performed by Debbie Garland, Shelley Allen, and Candace Hunt, added warmth to the chilly December night. Other standout performances included Bruce Elkind’s moving guitar and vocal collaboration with Candace Hunt on Edelweiss, Jason Weeks’ nostalgic White Christmas, and Kylee Siegmund’s heartfelt Valentine. Addie Allen’s soulful solo of God Help the Outcasts from The Hunchback of Notre Dame left the audience spellbound. The Saltines’ a cappella singing brought an additional layer of vocal brilliance, while another group sing-along of Frosty the Snowman ensured everyone felt part of the celebration.
The Mixed Choir contributed to the evening’s magic with songs like the thoughtful A Gift for Every Child, the atmospheric In Winter, and the spirited Polar Express: A Choral Medley, evoking the wonder of the beloved holiday film.
The finale was a true testament to the power of collaboration, as the combined choirs performed Double Trouble, weaving their voices into a tapestry of sound that resonated throughout the auditorium. The night concluded with a powerful and moving rendition of Peace, Peace, leaving the audience with a message of unity and hope for the season.
The intimate setting of the PVHS Auditorium, filled with families, friends, and community members, created a cozy and uplifting atmosphere. The performers’ passion and joy were evident in every note, making the evening a truly unforgettable experience.
