For Dane Clayton, high school has been a time of growth, grit, and memorable traditions. Among his favorite memories are the team Christmas practices—moments when the holiday spirit brought his teammates together through gift exchanges and shared celebration. “The whole team does a gift exchange and enjoys the holiday together,” Dane recalled. “It’s something I’ll never forget.”
A dedicated student-athlete, Dane has spent his high school years on the football field and wrestling mat. Those experiences, he says, helped shape him into the person he is today. “Football and wrestling gave me a really tough and strong mentality,” he said. That mental toughness has been key to his success, especially in wrestling, where he’s proud to have finished all of his seasons and made significant progress in weightlifting.
Outside of school, Dane has spent the past two summers commercial fishing in Bristol Bay, Alaska, alongside his older brothers. The demanding work has instilled in him a deep sense of discipline, responsibility, and appreciation for hard-earned rewards.
Looking ahead, Dane plans to continue commercial fishing while pursuing a business degree at Southern Utah University (SUU). It’s a path that blends hands-on experience with academic ambition—something he’s more than prepared for.
To underclassmen just beginning their high school journey, Dane offers this advice: “Stay committed to your sports and don’t quit. Your hard work will pay off.”
Congratulations, Dane Clayton! Your perseverance, strength, and drive are sure to take you far.
