Samantha Altiero – Class of 2015

For Samantha Altiero, life after high school has been a journey filled with learning, growth, and a deep commitment to both family and community. A proud 2015 graduate of Pahrump Valley High School (PVHS), she has carved out a unique path that blends professional success, personal fulfillment, and meaningful contributions to the causes she cares about most.

After graduating from PVHS as valedictorian, Samantha pursued higher education at Oregon State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science with an emphasis on ecology. Although she initially set out to become a dentist, her passion for animals led her to shift gears, eventually completing a program that closely aligned with pre-veterinary science. However, as life unfolded, her priorities changed. With two young sons at home, she made the difficult decision to step away from the rigorous demands of veterinary school to be present for her family. That choice led her to an unexpected but deeply fulfilling career in real estate.

Samantha currently works as a licensed real estate agent at The Ridge Realty Group, where she has built a reputation for her honesty, dedication, and strong work ethic. She initially entered the field as a real estate assistant and transaction coordinator, but her mentor encouraged her to obtain her license, which opened new doors. Now, nearly three years into her career as an agent, she has found a way to balance professional success with raising her children and pursuing personal interests.

Reflecting on her time at PVHS, Samantha holds fond memories of the friendships that shaped her high school experience. While she admits that many of the details of those years have faded, what remains clear is the laughter and joy she shared with her closest friends. Those bonds have endured beyond high school, and the group continues to stay connected through frequent dinners and even travel. Last year, they embarked on a trip to the East Coast and are planning another adventure to the North.

Her high school years also ignited a lifelong passion for volunteering. It was during this time that she discovered a deep commitment to serving her community, particularly through animal rescue efforts. That passion has only grown stronger over the years, and today, she proudly serves as the Vice President of Never Forgotten Animal Society, Inc. She also dedicates time each week to the organization’s thrift store, Make an Offer Shoppe, and manages its social media presence. While her busy schedule has made it challenging to participate in Clean Up Pahrump events as regularly as she once did, she still finds time for personal cleanups when she and her family explore the outdoors.

Samantha credits much of her success and personal growth to her self-motivation, a trait she first developed in high school. Setting high goals and working relentlessly to achieve them has been a guiding principle in her life. This drive has helped her thrive in real estate, where she has consistently met her annual sales targets. More importantly, she prides herself on being an ethical and client-focused agent, ensuring that homebuyers and sellers feel supported and confident in one of the most significant financial decisions of their lives.

Despite her achievements, Samantha acknowledges that her journey has not been without challenges. One of her biggest hurdles has been overcoming her naturally introverted personality in a profession that requires self-promotion and networking. She has learned that real estate is as much about building relationships as it is about closing deals. While she still finds self-promotion difficult, she continues to improve and grow more comfortable in this aspect of her work. Additionally, she has learned the importance of teamwork in an industry where collaboration with lenders, title companies, and inspectors is crucial to success.

Through her experiences, Samantha has gained valuable insights. She has learned that making genuine connections with clients is more important than simply being the best at the job. She also understands that careers don’t define individuals; rather, they are simply one part of a fulfilling life. This perspective has allowed her to find joy and balance in her work, knowing that her ultimate priority is being the best mother she can be for her children.

For those considering a career in real estate, Samantha offers words of encouragement and caution. The field provides excellent opportunities for self-motivated individuals, but it also comes with a high failure rate, with over 85% of new agents leaving within the first two years. Many successful agents enter the profession later in life after exploring other careers. However, she emphasizes that anyone, at any stage, can pursue real estate and find success if they have the right mindset and determination.

Beyond her career and volunteer work, Samantha’s personal life is rich with love and creativity. She and her fiancé, Devin, have been together since high school and have built a life centered around their two boys and three rescue dogs. She is passionate about stained glass art, creating projects each month as a creative outlet. Fitness is also a significant part of her life, as she consistently aims to jog around 50 miles a month, with plans to double that number by the year’s end. In addition, she has developed a strong interest in stock market investing, particularly futures trading and options, which she continues to study and refine.

Balancing her professional life with personal interests and family responsibilities is something Samantha has mastered, thanks in part to the flexibility that real estate provides. She is intentional about maintaining this balance, ensuring that she never misses important moments with her children. Devin’s unwavering support has also been instrumental in allowing her to pursue her goals without sacrificing time with their family.

Looking ahead, Samantha envisions herself continuing to learn and grow, both personally and professionally. She has aspirations of returning to school in the future, though she remains open to where life takes her. With a deep love for learning and an unwavering commitment to achieving her dreams, there is little doubt that she will continue to find success in whatever path she chooses.

Samantha’s journey is a testament to resilience, adaptability, and the power of staying true to one’s passions. From high school valedictorian to dedicated mother, successful real estate agent, and devoted community volunteer, she has embraced every chapter of her life with determination and heart. Her story serves as an inspiration to those looking to carve their own unique paths, reminding us all that fulfillment comes not from a single career or achievement but from a life lived with purpose and passion.
