The RCMS Sharks secured a thrilling 44-32 victory over the Round Mountain Knights on Saturday, September 7th, in a game that showcased the Sharks’ explosive offense and determination. Head Coach Jeff Corbett was full of praise for his players, particularly quarterback Stetson Brown, who played a crucial role under center. “Stetson did a great job controlling the game,” Corbett said. Although the Sharks didn’t rely heavily on passing, Brown’s ability to keep the ball and make key plays helped set the tone for the offense.
The real star of the day was Kain Johnson, who put on a show with over 100 rushing yards and four touchdowns. “Kain was the never-ending highlight reel,” Corbett noted. Unfortunately, two of his touchdowns were called back, but Johnson’s impact on the game was undeniable. Wide receiver Marquez Hill also made a significant contribution with two touchdowns on reverse plays, demonstrating the speed and versatility that the Sharks have on offense. “On offense, we’re stacked with speed,” Corbett added.
While the offense thrived, the Sharks know there’s room for improvement on defense. Armani Jenkins was the standout on that side of the ball, racking up over 10 tackles. “Armani is our playmaker on defense,” Corbett said. The Sharks struggled at times, giving up too many yards and allowing the Knights to march down the field with ease. However, a late-game interception by Cade Castaneda helped secure the victory. “We need to iron out the kinks on defense,” Corbett admitted, “but overall, the team did fantastic.”
With their first win of the season in the books, the Sharks are looking forward to their next challenge. They’ll face Eureka on September 20th at a neutral site in Tonopah, with a 10 AM kickoff. “We’re excited for the next game and ready to keep building on this momentum,” Corbett said.
As the season progresses, the Sharks are proving to be a force to be reckoned with, combining offensive speed with grit and determination on both sides of the ball.
