The PVHS Trojans’ volleyball team finished their season on a high note, sweeping Somerset Losee 3-0 in a decisive win at home on Thursday, October 24. The victory capped off a competitive season, but despite their strong performance, the Trojans just missed advancing to Regionals, ending in a three-way tie for fourth place. After applying all tie-breaking rules, the Trojans finished in fifth, narrowly missing out on postseason play.
In the matchup against Somerset Losee, the Trojans controlled the game with scores of 25-17, 25-15, and 25-17. Key contributors included Heavenly Ware, who led the team with 13 kills, and Xeane Kamanu, who followed closely with 12. Madison Rodriguez provided three crucial serving aces, while Ware stood tall at the net, recording 15 blocks—five solo and 10 assisted. On defense, Bryn Mazlo’s 27 digs kept the Trojans steady throughout the match.
The coaching staff expressed pride in the progress made by the team throughout the season. Though they were disappointed to miss out on Regionals by such a slim margin, they are optimistic about the future of this young team. Seniors Belen Ramirez and Bryn Mazlo will leave a lasting impact on the program, and the team looks forward to building on the foundation they laid in seasons to come.
